2005 World Series Results:
Mid-State Dirt Dawgs finishes�in 2nd place @ the 14U BPA World Series, held in Michigan City, Indiana.
The Mid-State Dirt�Dawgs�participated in the 14-U BPA World Series this past week in Michigan City, IN.� They finished as runner-up but nearly pulled off the impossible, losing�the second game and thus had to play through the losers bracket to get to the finals.��The Dirt Dawgs�were faced with playing 5 games on Sunday beginning at 8:00 am. The first 3 wins on Sunday got us through the losers bracket�to the BP Bombers (Chicago, IL) who came out of the winners bracket with a 3-0 record. (coached by Garrick Pranchke former coach at Grand Valley State)� At this point we were 6-1 in the tournament and had to defeat the strong and rested�Bombers team twice.� In game 4, Mid-State�defeated the BP Bombers 8-7 scoring 4 runs in the last inning forcing the deciding game.� The fifth and final�game resulted in a 4-3 loss that ended with the tying and winning runs on base.� The Dirt Dawg players were disappointed in losing the final game but it was an incredible journey to say the least.� The final game ended at 11:30 pm.�

Michigan Titans finish 16th out of 62 teams at the USSSA AAA World Series in Canton.
The Titans qualified�24th in�the Championship�bracket after going 2-1 in pool play.��After beating the 9th seed Glenview Blaze in the opening round of the�double elimination tournament, the Titans�ran into the Souixland Stars from Iowa.� The loss to the Stars put the Titans in the�losers portion of the Championship bracket, to face the North Carolina Eagles.� The Titans won that game to face the Kentucky�Cyclones on Friday�morning.� The Cyclones�eliminated the Titans from the World Series.�� The Titans�finished the 2nd highest of 17 Michigan teams entered. NFWB qualified 34th after pool play....

NFWB Cobras and Michigan Indians are at the CABA Quality World Series in St. Claire Shores.

The Downriver Hawks are in the USSSA Elite 24 World Series at Disney World.

2006 Tournament Results 7/14-7/16
The NFWB Cobras 15u completed their tournament season by going 5 - 0 in winning the Grand Blanc Invitational this past weekend. The Cobras defeated the 16u Milford A's 7 - 6 in the finals after mercing the PTC Cobras 15 - 1 in the semi-finals. It was the Cobras fourth tournament victory in five tries, and improved their tournament record to 20 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie.

2005 Tournament Results: 7/15-7/17
MATBL Teams get two more tournament wins!

Congrats to the Mid-State Dirt Dawgs and Downriver Hawks for winning the GLTB Grand Slam Luau.

The MidState Dirt Dawgs were champions of the GLTB Grand Slam Luau at Founders Park this past weekend.  The Dirt Dawgs defeated the S. Farmington Blues 5-3 in 8 innings in the semi-final game and Evergreen Park Yellow Jackets (Chicago, IL) 6-1 in the finals.


The Downriver Hawks won the GLTB Grand Slam Luau at Founders Park.

NFWB Cobras


Congratulations NFWB Cobras... The Cobras won The Michigan Wolves/ Livonia Travel Tournament, going 5 - 0, beating Lakes Athletics, Howell Hawks (twice), Novi Heat and Concealed MI Hornets in the championship game. The Cobras outscored their opponents 69 - 28 in the five games.


NFWB Cobras take 2nd place in the Mayor's Invitational in Battle Creek. The Cobras finish off a great tournament losing a heart breaker in the championship game to the Macomb Hurricanes, who they had previously beaten and tied in pool play. Great job Cobras!


NFWB Cobras finish in 2nd place in the NFWB Cobra Classic by beating the South Lyon Thunder and the Novi Heat in pool play. The Cobras advanced to the semi-finals and defeated the Dearborn Heights Knights. The Cobras lost in the championship game to the Concealed MI Hornets.







Monday, July 10
Tournament Results 7/7-7/9
- The NFWB Cobras won their 3rd straight BPA State Championship. The Cobras won the double elimination tournament with victories over the Huntington Woods Cats and Romeo Reds. In the championship series the Cobras dropped the first game to the Romeo Reds 5-2 before coming back to defeat the Reds in a second game 14-2.

- The Rochester Braves 14U went 5-0 to win the 2006 Michigan Wolves Invitational. The Braves had Pool Play victories over the Park Chargers, Fraser, and the Howell Hawks and a Semi-Final victory over St. John's. The Championship Game was a 6-4 victory in a rematch with the Howell Hawks that featured a Game Winning Grand Slam by TJ Trouba in the 3rd inning.

2005 Tournament Results: 7/8-7/10

MATBL 13U/14U have a great weekend; 4 Tournament wins, and 2 second place finishes!
Congrats to the NFWB Cobras, Michigan Titans, Downriver Hawks and Riverside Royals for their victories.  Michigan Dirt Dawgs finished 2nd in Battle Creek and Bloomfield Sting finish 2nd in the BPA State Tournament

The Cobras won the 2005 BPA State Championships in Saline.  The Cobras went 2-1 in pool play, losing to the Rochester Braves 3-1.  In the semi-finals the Cobras beat the Saline Hornets 12-0 which set up a rematch with the Rochester Braves.  This time the Cobras broke the game open in the 4th inning with 8 runs to go on to win 16-2.
Riverside Royals and Michigan Titans win in Livonia: 
The Riverside Royals beat the Livonia Lookout in the bottom of the 8th for the 14 & U Championship going 4-0 for the tourney.  
The Michigan Titans won 4 games to win the 13U division of the Livonia Invitational.  The Titans went 2-1 in pool play, losing to the host Michigan Wolves.  In the semi-finals the Titans rallied to beat the Howell Hawks 7-4, and beat Dearborn Travel 5-2 in the Championship Game.
The Michigan Indians 13U finish 2nd in the a 14U Division of the Mayor's Invitational played in Battle Creek.
 With only two days of rest, the Indians took on another challenge and competed in the 14U Mayors Invitational Tournament in Battle Creek, Michigan. In the Sandy Koufax Blue Division, the Indians faced four 14U teams: West Michigan Heat, Chesterfield Raptors, Elite 14s and Mid Michigan Tigers, and two 13U teams: West Michigan Reds and the Battle Creek Hurricanes. The Tribe, going 4-2 in pool play, played outstanding offense and defense against these teams, outscoring their opponents 87-24.  The Tribe played strong in the championship game. They lost to the Tigers 4-1. Congratulations on such a valiant effort!!!      


The MidState Dirt Dawgs finished runner-up in the Mayor's Invitational played in Battle Creek. 
Dirt Dawgs finished 6-0 in pool play defeating:  Renegades (IL), Detroit Red Stars, Anchor Bay Angels, Summit City Sluggers (IN), Lake Erie Baseball Club (OH) and St. Clair Shore Devil Rays. Dirt Dawgs lost to Concealed Security Chargers in the finals, the game was tied 5-5 going into the 6th, then Concealed broke open a close game with 8 runs in the final two innings to win 13-5.  
Bloomfield Sting finishes 2nd in the 14U BPA State Tournament.
The Downriver Hawks 13U wins a 14U tournament! 
Congrats to the Downriver Hawks  for winning the 14U Division of the GLTB Metro Detroit Invitational.

Tournamnet Results 7/1-7/4
- The NFWB Cobras 9U made it to the finals of the Sylvania Mavericks tournament in Sylvania Ohio. The 9U Cobras lost to Marysville Ohio 7 to 4. The Cobras went 5 and 1 over the weekend.

Tournament Results 6/23-6/25
The NFWB Cobras 16U were runners up at battle creek in the Mayors Invitational. They lost to the St. Clair Shores Mariners 12-6 in the finals.

Tournament Results 7/1-7/3
- The Wolves 11U team won the Firecracker Classic played at Liberty Park.

- The Walker Homesites Hawks 12U Finished in 2nd place in the Firecracker Classic at Liberty Park. The Hawks went 5-1 with a last at bat win over the Southfield Padres 4-3 to win their pool. In the semi-finals, the Hawks beat the Fort Gratiot Rebels again with their last at bat 2-1 to advance to the finals where they lost to the South Oakland A's 4-1.

2006 Tournament Results 7/1-7/3
Fifteen and sixteen year-old travel teams from three states traveled to Mt. Pleasant for the right to play for the Triple Crown Championship at Theunissan Stadium on the campus of Central Michigan University. After mixing the ages for pool play, teams were broken down by age and the NFWB Cobras 15u were successful in winning their third tournament in four attempts in capturing the Central Michigan Spectacular over the fourth of July weekend by defeating Diamond Indoor Sports of Westlake, Ohio 5- 4 in the Championship game to complete a 4 and 0 weekend.

2005 Tournament Results 7/1-7/4
The Tribe was on the warpath at the Beast of the Northeast Boys of Summmer tournament in Akron, Ohio over the 4th of July weekend. The Tribe went 4-0 in pool play, earning the first seed in the playoffs. The Tribe played the Pittsburg Diamond Dawgs in the semi-finals, ousting the Diamond Dawgs 11-3. The Tribe advanced to the championship game, facing the Eagles Broadview Heights. The game was an intense one! The two teams battled, playing tight defense. The Tribe was trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th inning and pulled off the victory with a final score of 5-4. The Tribe played a great tournament and outscored their opponents 71-17. Way to go Indians!!!


Tuesday, July 4
Tournament Results 7/1-7/3
- The 14U NFWB Cobras went 6-0 for the holiday weekend to win the Sylvania Mavericks Baseball Tournament. The Cobras defeated the Michigan Wolves in the championship game 12-5.

- Michigan Indians 14U won the Freedom Classic Tournament in Akron Ohio by defeating Johnny Appleseed Baseball Club 6-2 in the championship game.

Tournament Results 6/23-6/25
- The 14U DBA Hitmen are the 2006 USSSA State Champions. After going undefeated in pool play, the Hitmen entered championship Sunday needing (3) more wins to take the title. The boys played outstanding baseball in the field and at the plate which led them to victories over the Howell Hawks, the Downriver Hawks, and the Elite Riverman, in the championship game. In the (3) games, on championship Sunday, the Hitmen scored (26) runs on (36) hits while giving up only (5) runs on (11) hits.

- Michigan Indians 14U won the South Farmington Tournament.

2006 Tournament Results 6/23-6/25
The Cobras continued their success in BPA Tournaments by winning the Chelsea Hardball/BPA State Championship this past weekend at the Chelsea High School Complex. The Cobras completed their 5 and 0 weekend by defeating the Milan Diamond Dawgs 7 - 5 in the finals.

2005 Tournament Results: 6/24-6/26
USSSA State Tournament:  Congrats to the Downriver Hawks for winning the State Tournament.
The Downriver Hawks went 6-0, winning their 3rd straight USSSA State Tournament Championship.  The D'Hawks beat the Howell Hawks in the Quarter-finals 11-2, the Anchor Bay Angels 5-3 in the Semi's and the DBA Hitmen 10-1 in the Championship Game. 
All FOUR 13U MATBL teams advanced into Sundays Play-offs!

Cooperstown News!
The Concealed Security Michigan Hornets 10U competed this past week in Cooperstown New York. The Hornets finished with a 4-4 record in the week long tournament and left Cooperstown with a 44th place finish (out of 96 teams). With wins against the Delaware Gators, North Carolina Spitfires, Cincinnati Flames and the Blackstone Valley Thunder from Massachusetts, the Hornets returned to Michigan with the best record from teams from our state.

- NFWB Cobras Win Farmington Invitational!

Metro Dodgers 5-4
St Clair Shore Mariners 7-6
Michigan Elite 17-12

The NFWB Cobrras won their pool and in championship game crossover against Northville, won 23-15
visiting team , down 12-9 in last inning with 1 out and scored 14 runs to win..3 home runs that inning including a grand slam by Tim Behm and two two run homers by Josh Norris and Zack Ehrmann-won the tourney.

2005 Tournament Results 6/18-6/19

MATBL wins two more tournaments!
Congrats to the Mid State Dirt Dawgs and the Downriver Hawks for winning tournaments of Fathers Day weekend.
The Downriver Hawks crossed the border to Windsor and won the Great Lakes Windsor Titansfest.  The D'Hawks went 5-0 on their way to the championship.
The Mid State Dirt Dawgs won the Triple Crown Qualifier in Lansing.  The Dirt Dawgs beat the Ohio Rebels 7-6 in 9 innings, and then beat fellow MATBL team, Michigan Hitmen 11-2 in the finals.

The NFWB Cobras 9U lost in the finals 7 to 5 against Oakland A&W out of Lansing but received another Triple Crown World series birth.

2005 Tournament Results 6/11-6/12
Another great weekend for the 13U/14U Division of the MATBL!
Ivor James Memorial tournament had 4 teams advance from Pool Play, the 14U Bloomfield Sting and Riverside Royals made the Semi Finals. 
In the 13U division it was an all MATBL Finals as both the Michigan Titans and the Downriver Hawks advanced, with the Michigan Titans winning.

Congrats to all 4 teams!

2006 Tournament Results 6/9-6/11
    The NFWB Cobras 15u returned to St. Clair Shores to defend their Continental Amateur Baseball Association (CABA)State Championship, only to find the 15u and 16u ages were combined for 2006, but that wasn't enough to prevent the Cobras from going 5 and 0 to win the 15/16u State Championship.
    The Cobras defeated the following teams along the way. Troy Colts 10 - 0, Michigan Cougars 11 - 3, Michigan Hitmen 5 - 4, Michigan Mavericks 4 -2 and Brighton Bulldogs 9 - 2 in the championship game.

Sunday, June 11
Tournament Results 6/9-6/11
- The NFWB 14U Cobras swept their way to a tournament victory in the Bud-Dog Classic held in Midland, MI. The Cobras rolled to victories over the Sarnia Braves (twice), London Badgers and Mecosta Stallions. Garrett Reichle and Cody Blakita paced the hitting attack, each hitting over .600 for the tournament. As a team the Cobras batted .421 while holding their opponents to a total of 11 runs through the four games.

- The Downriver Hawks won the 14U CABA State tournament in St Clair Shores over the weekend. Their record for the weekend was 5-0.

- DBA Hitmen 14U win the "Ivor James" Tournament, at Canton Center, by going undefeated and beating the Eastside Spartans, 9-1, in (5) innings, in the championship game. "Noles" Wilson pitched a (2) hit, (8)K, game and the offense produced (3) HRs...back-to-back by Ben Filimon and Mike Newcomb and then a walk-off by Mike Johnson.

MATBL nets another Win!
In an all MATBL final, the Mid-State Dirt Dawgs beat the NFWB Cobras 6-5 to win the NFWB Summer Classic. 
Congrats  to the Mid-State Dirt Dawgs!

- The NFWB Cobras outscored their opponents 89 to 22 over their five games to win the NFWB Cobras 12U Tournament held at Founders Park in Farmington. The team hit 7 home runs in 5 games witn Aaron Roberts belting 3. As a team, the Cobras batted over .500.

- The WaCo Wolves 11U won the NFWB Summer Classic 11U. They went 4 - 0, defeating the S. Lyon Thunder, Lake Area Dodgers (twice) and the NFWB Cobras. All 4 games were ended by mercy as the Wolves outscored their opponents 52 to 9.

- The 12U NFWB Cobras won the Cobra Classic.

Tournament Results 6/2-6/4
The 9U NFWB Cobras played in the Richfield Renegades tournament and won it. The 9U NFWB Cobras played against the Grand Rapids Elite Travel baseball team for the championship and won 8 to 5. Three Cobra pitchers combined for the win. Jaden King pitched three 1 hit innings, Josh Smith came in to pitch 1 strong inning and Brandon Defore closed the last 2 inninings.

Congrats to the Downriver Hawks for making the Semi-finals of the USSSA Super NIT, finishing 4th out of 26 teams.��The Hawks lost to eventual champion Nevada Wildcats 3-1 in the Semi-Finals. Way to represent both Michigan and the�MATBL.�

Tournament Results 5/26-5/29
- The Walker Homesite Hawks 12U finished in 2nd place in the Memorial Day NIT Classic in Canton. The Hawks went 4-1 with a 7-5 victory over Beaver Valley Black from Pennsylvania to win their bracket. In the semi-finals, the Hawks beat the Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs 6-4 to advance to the finals where they lost to the Saline Sting 11-4.

- The WaCo Wolves 11U went 5-1 at the Carter Park Classic in Bowling Green, Ohio defeating the Mid-Ohio Mustangs 8-4 in the championship game hitting a tournament high 5 homeruns!

Tournament Results 5/19-5/21
- The Padres 12U finish 2nd in the DBA/Liberty Park Invitational in Sterling Hgts to the SEM Pirates 4-2 in the Championship Game. Three out of 4 teams that made it to the semis were from MATBL. The Pardres beat the Motor City Cobras to make it to the championship and Hornets lost to SEM Pirates.

- The WaCo Wovles 11U went 3-1 coming in 2nd place in the DBA Tournament at Liberty Park.

The DBA Hitmen 14U posted a 4-1 record and a Runner Up finish in the Liberty Park Invitational.

2005 Tournament Results 5/21-5/22
Add 2 Tournament wins and a 2nd place finish under the banner of the MATBL for the 13U/14U division.
Congrats to Riverside Royals, Downriver Hawks and Bloomfield Sting for their tournament success this weekend.
The Riverside Royals defeated Anchor Bay 4-1 in the finals of the Mid May Classic held this past weekend in Southgate, Mi. The game featured a mammoth 300 foot plus homer run by Aaron succeed (first hit of the season) and outstanding pitching from Jesse Carriere.
The Downriver Hawks won the Mid May Classic this weekend in the 13 year old
division in our first games of the year, they went 4-0.   
It was an all MATBL finals, as the NFWB Cobras defeated the Bloomfield
Sting 5 - 4 to win the 14U BPA NIT Tournament this weekend in Allen Park.



2005 Tournament Results 5/15-5/16
MATBL wins�TWO tournaments this weekend!
Congrats to both Michigan Indians and Michigan Titans.
The Titans won the Waco Wolves May Day classic.� This tournament�included�9 teams from Ohio,�1 from Pennsylvania, and 10 from Michigan.�� The Titans beat the West Toledo Raiders 11-2 in the Semi Finals, and defeated the two-time defending champion Lake Erie Baseball Club Bulldogs 8-7 in the Finals.
The Indians traveled to Battle Creek to play in the Cannonsburg Invitational, despite some rain issues on Saturday, the Indians won their 2nd tournament of the 2005 year.� The Indians beat the W. Michigan Elite- Rivermen 11-1 in the Finals.
Nice job MATBL!

Birmingham Barons 9U Win Northville Early Bird Tournament!   
The Birmingham Barons (9U) won the Northville Early Bird Tournament Championship yesterday in the Barons' debut tournament appearance.

The Barons bested a field of eight outstanding teams, winning all four of their games and allowing only seven runs on the tournament.

The Barons won the championship game by a score of 3-2 against a flawless Lake Orion Dragons squad. The Barons collected nine hits but scored only three runs in the face of fine pitching performances (that allowed no walks) and defensive play by the Dragons.

The championship game included a solo Barons home run, and it ended in dramatic fashion with a play at the plate preventing the tying run from scoring.

MATBL 13U-14U place 1st and 2nd over Mothers Day weekend!

Congrats to the NFWB Cobras for winning the Northville Early Bird Tournament on Mothers Day,�with a 6-5 victory over the host team, Northville Broncos.
The Mid-State Dirt Dawgs finished 2nd in the GLTB Cinco De Mayo Classic.� They lost�in the Championship game�to�the OC Bandits, of the MATBL 14U division.
A very nice weekend for the MATBL.�

The Michigan Indians 14U won the Michigan Bulls Tournament in Dearborn, Mi. The Titans beat Missasuaga (Ontario) North Tigers 6-5 in the championship game.

Congrats to the Michigan Indians on winning the Michigan Bulls Classic.� Indians beat the Detroit Eagles 8-1 in the Championship Game.

Note: Some of these teams moved to 15U in 2006 while others will play 14U.
The 13u/14u division of the MATBL is comprised of 8 competitive teams from Southeast Michigan. The teams are: Bloomfield Sting, Downriver Hawks, Genesee County Mustangs, Michigan Indians, Michigan Titans, Mid-State Dirt Dawgs, NFWB Cobras, and Riverside Royals.

Congratulations to the Downriver Hawks, American League Champions and the Mid-State Dirt Dawgs, National League Champions.

Thanks to all the teams for supporting the MATBL, best of luck in�the post season.
