A.S.A.P. "A SAFETY AWARENESS PLAN"
Oregon is only the 2nd state in the Nation to reach 100% participation and implementation of the Safety Awareness Plan! And we've done it two years in a row. It's our responsibility to help Oregon do it again for 2008!
To check on the status of YOUR league's plan:
1. click on the ASAP icon
2. enter your State and District number (two digit - i.e. "07")

Every adult (age 13 and up) who has "repeated contact" with and works directly with the kids must complete a Volunteer form toward a background check. If you desire to volunteer toward managing, coaching, umpiring, being on a local League or District board, or in any other way involving yourself directly with the kids, please complete this form and take it (along with a photocopy of a government-issued photo I.D. with you to your local league's registration - or mail it with a copy of your government-issued photo I.D. to the address affiliated with the program. (Addresses are included with the "My Site News" item about each league.)
Some leagues are issuing "I.D." badges indicating the Volunteer Is Approved to be on the fields with the kids because they have completed both the sexual registry and background checks for those volunteers. Not A Bad Idea at All :-)
As of the 2007 Season, Little League International is providing chartered Little Leagues 80 Free Background/SOR Checks through ChoicePoint and a unique child-safety focused program. (Additional checks cost the chartered league $1 each.)
