2007-2008 Basketball Dear Parents of the MAA: The MAA Board has met and decided on coaches for the 2007-2008 Basketball Season. But there are some teams that do not have enough players and there are some teams to do not have any or enough coaches or players to make a team. The following is a list of divisions that are open and closed and how many players we still need and what divisions need coaches. If you can help, please let the Board members know at the evaluations this week. Please be advised, that if we do not have enough coaches, some or all of the kids (depending on the size of the group) will have to be cut this year. Please help our kids have a great Basketball Season. A copy of evaluation times are also included in this e-mail. ************ 5 Boys: Has enough players and coaches for two teams and is CLOSED to registration.
8 Boys: Has three teams and coaches and is OPEN to 1 more player.
9 Boys: Has three teams and two coaches. We need 1 more coach and this age group is OPEN to 4 more players.
10 Boys: Has two teams and one coach. We need 1 more coach and this age group is OPEN to 1 more player.
11 Boys: Has two teams and no committed coaches. We have called one volunteer to coach, but have not heard back from him as of now. We need 1 possibly 2 coaches. We also have places for 4 more players and is OPEN to more registration.
12 Boys: We have 1 team and possibly 1 coach. We have also called the volunteer for this team but have not heard back from him yet. This is CLOSED to more registration.
14 Under Boys: Due to Middle School Basketball Drafts being this week and kids finding out on Friday, the 14 and under division will be decided on Friday evening.
6 Girls: We had one player sign up for 6 girls. She is going to play up for the basketball season.
7 Girls: We have two teams and two coaches with 15 players. This age group is CLOSED to more registration.
8 Girls: We have one team and one coach. This age group is CLOSED to more registration.
9 Girls: We have one team and two coaches. There can only be 8 players on a team and there are 9 girls signed up for this age group. This age group is Open to 5 more players.
10 Girls: We have 3 teams and three coaches. There are 10 girls signed up for this age group. This age group is OPEN to 5 more players.
11 Girls: 1 player signed up
12 Girls: 1 player signed up
13 Girls: Due to Middle School Basketball Drafts being this week and kids finding out on Friday, the Girls division will be decided on Friday evening.

A Call for Board Members The Meridianville Athletic Association (MAA) is in desperate need of additional Board/Committee of Management (COM) members. At present, we have only 15 members that are listed on the board. Of these 15, 5 do behind the scenes work such as working on the website, facilities rental contact, signs for the park, etc. We have 10 that participate in park and gym duty and they are spread thin. We need dedicated individuals who care about the kids of our community to join the Board/COM to help out with the park maintenance, park/gym duty, helping keep the park clean and help be an example and mentor to the kids of our community. We need individuals to serve on committees such as: fundraising, concessions, facilities/grounds maintenance and improvements, programs for the park, marketing, finance, etc. The more members we have to serve on these committees the more we can do for the kids in the community and the more we can do for our park. If you would like to have a voice in the concerns of the MAA and the park, this is the time to join. Some people say "I do not have the time to serve on the board". They see all the time that the present board members spend at the park but do not realize that if there were more board members, those people would not have to spend as much time at the park. Board/Park duty is divided equally between all that are on the board, so the more we have on the board the more spread out the board/park duty would be and it would be fair to all.
