The Lunachicks 12U Fastpitch Softball team has just won the Breakers Blowout PONY Qualifier in Stratford, CT. The win caps a perfect season at twelve-for-twelve first-place championships in 2008-09, with a record of 62-1-1.

Next weekend, the Lunachicks complete their regular season by competing in the Summer Scorcher 14U tournament in Southington, CT and then head to PONY Nationals in Cary, NC beginning July 24.

May 31, 2009 - The Lunachicks 12U fastpitch softball team went 7-0 this weekend, with 4 wins on Sunday giving up only one run to earn their 10th tournament championship of the 2008-09 season in the The New Windsor Classic PONY Qualifier. Highlights included Lunachicks pitcher Jasmine Ennabe's 4-0 one hit shutout in the semi-finals, and a 21-1 win in the finals. The Lunachicks outscored opponents 40-1 Sunday. This tournament championship makes the Lunachicks nine-for-nine in 12U tournaments, in addition to a 14U tournament championship on May 16. The team has played 47 12U games since October 2008 and won 46. They are 7 and 3 in 14U competition.

In only their second 14u tournament the Lunachicks 12u walked away with the rained shortened championship. The Lunachicks went 3-0 on Saturday outscoring their opponents 24 - 0 and earned the #1 seeding for Sunday's championship round. Sunday was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Lunachicks 10 - Beacon Xtreme 0 - Jasmine Ennabe and Courtney Barbara combined for a 3 hit shutout walking 2 batters while striking out 6

Lunachicks 6 - Rockland Thunder 0 - Jasmine Ennabe pitched a no hitter giving up no walks and striking out 9 batters. The only base runner was on by error.

Lunachicks 8 - Dutchess Debs 0 - Sammy Fernandez pitched a no hitter giving up 3 walks and striking out 9 batters

Lunachicks take 3rd place in the Ulster Fillies 14U tournament. (12 teams) Finishing 4-3 on the weekend losing 2 to the champions Electric City Bombers and splitting 1-1 with the tournament host and runner ups Ulster Fillies.

This tournament had it all - an incredible effort against top-flight competition.  As run differential indicates, this was a real test. Lunachicks were down 8-3 in the Championship game but came back to win 11-10 in International tiebreaker.
