GREAT DAY AT UPLAND!
The teams wrapped up Baseline dual meet competition with perrennial powerhouse Upland.  The boys came to compete, matching up well with the Highlanders in most areas.  In the end, Upland, led by one of the top distance teams in the state of California, were too much to handle, as the Grizzlies fell 80-56.  The score was by far the best showing against Upland.  The team finished at 5-5, which is a nice improvement over last season.
On the girls side, the coaching staff knew this one would be close.  It would take some great performances and even some luck, but the staff felt the team could get it done.  As all great meets do, this one came down to the 1600 Relay and the Grizzlies eased to victory.  The team's effort gave the girls their first win over Upland, a 3-2 record in league, which is a tie for second, and their first winning record at 6-4 overall, including closing the season with three straight wins!

GRIZZLIES OPEN LEAGUE
The team traveled to Rancho Cucamonga HS on Thursday and ran into a very strong Cougar team.  The boys team fell by a score of 94-39 despite a sweep of the throwing events.  The 400 relay remained unbeaten and a new school record was established in the Long Jump as Javon Williams hit a 21-4.5 mark shattering the old record by over 1 1/2 feet.
The girls scored 50 on the Cougars, the most the school has ever scored against Rancho, but it wasn't enough to overcome the domination in the shorter races and relays.  Congratulations to Rizala Carrington, who extended her school records with wins in both the Shot Put and the Discus.
The sprinters travel to Beaumont for their invitational this weekend and the team will resume league action next Thursday at Claremont at 3:00.

GREEN IS MONEY!
Dana Green continues her climb to new heights in the high jump with a leap of 5-6 at CIF Finals.  This added an inch to her school record, a 2nd place finish in Division 1 and she punched her ticket to the prestigious Masters Meet.  She will compete at Cerritos College on Friday evening at 5:30.
Emmanuel Jackson improved another foot in the Triple Jump to break into the elusive 45's.  His mark of 45-2.75 was good for 5th place, an improvement on his school record and puts him in the top 40 marks in California this season.  Considering he began the year as a 38 foot triple jumper, Emmanuel has made great strides in many ways.
Nick McGrail's season came to a close on Saturday with a 9th place finish in the Discus.  He was a surprise competitor with his record throw at Prelims, but he was unable to match it on Saturday.  He still managed a fine throw of 145-8, and he too has improved greatly this season.

GREEN ON TO STATE!
Dana Green continued her post-season run advancing to the State Meet this weekend at Cerritos College.  At Friday's Masters Meet, she cleared the automatic qualifying height of 5-4 to advance.  She will compete in State Prelims on Friday and will compete in the finals on Saturday if she qualifies.  Congratulations on her accomplishments and for being the first track athlete in our brief school history to advance to State!

"The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have or would have done, or what they can't do." - Dennis Waitley
