2006 Women's National Tournament
The Women’s Division National Tournament began in 1933 as a tournament to showcase the best postcollegiate and club women’s lacrosse players. Since that time, it has grown into one of the largest and most renowned women’s lacrosse events in the nation and features three levels of play including High School,Senior Only, and Club divisions. In 1981, a High School girl’s division was added and in 2004, a High SchoolSenior Only Division was added to give seniors in high school a cumulating experience at the National Tournament.
The success of the National Tournament is mainly due to three distinguishable aspects:
1) As the tournament grows larger each year, US Lacrosse staff and key volunteer leadership are committed to evolving and creating new opportunities for the best girls and women from every region of the country to play and be seen, while maintaining an affordable participation fee for all;
2) the National Tournament continues to offer the ideal venue to highlight outstanding high school and college players receiving All American Honors and is still the only avenue for athletes to be considered for US Team trials and finally; 3) this tournament celebrates the game of women’s lacrosse and the people who help grow the game, at every level of play like no other US tournament does.
This year, the US Lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament promises to bring the best of the best to Lehigh for an unforgettable lacrosse experience, for fans and participants alike! In 2006 the Long Island Chapter was able to send 60 girls on to the National Tournament
