2011-2012 PWHL Coach of the Year

Congratulations to Christina Jolliffe on being named the PWHL Coach of the year for the 2011-2012 season.

Christina has been the Head Coach for the Junior team for the past 2 seasons and we look forward to her returning for the 2012-2013 season.

Program Goals and Philosophy

Team philosophy: “It’s not the name on the back of the jersey that matters, but the one on the front”

Our program believes in the concept of team above all else.  We learn to work as a unit, trust one another and succeed as a team. Our team believes in playing with class while respecting our opponents, teammates and referees. Our program believes in working hard on and off the ice. Our team believes in accountability and ownership. Our athletes encourage each other and dedicate themselves to a 100% effort at all times. Our program believes in developing all of our players and helping each athlete achieve their goals.

Program Highlights for 2012-2013:

Power Skating:  Our team works with Dwayne Blais in order to improve our skating and basic skills.

Skill Development:  New to the program this season.  Our team will work with Andy Forcey and Pro Tips to help improve our shooting, passing and stick handling skills

Practices: Our program has a minimum of two 90-minute practices per week.  In addition, the team will contract ice in the early season to work on skill-development and skating.

Summer Program:  At the end of try outs each athlete will receive a summer dry land program which will include cardio, agility and strength training.  The program will also include a stick handling and shooting program as well.

Dry Land Program:  Run by Total Package Hockey.  This season our program will run dry land sessions through the month of August and for part of the season.

Charity Work:  Our team is dedicated to giving back to the community who gives us so much.  We participate in several events throughout the year (ex. Run for the Cure)

Training Camp:  Location to be determined

Team Events:  Our team believes in celebrating our team successes no matter how small or big.

Tournaments:  Our program participates in a minimum of four tournaments in both the USA and Canada (Stoney, Aeros(CAN/AM), Detroit (CAN/AM) and Washington).

Building Your Roadmap:  Many Junior Devilettes alumni have continued their hockey careers in the CIS or NCAA women's hockey programs. Our Program will prepare our players (building their roadmap) and promote them with the 29 CIS, 34 NCAA Div 1 and 52 NCAA Div 3 Women's Hockey Programs.

If you have any questions regarding, next season, our program or try outs please contact me at any time. Christina Jolliffe:  cjolliffe33@gmail.com or 226-456-0056.
