Linganore Lancers Youth Football 2009

Last season’s participation in the MMYFCL was smooth and extremely successful. We had 16 teams participate in the league 13 of which were old enough to compete in the playoffs and we had 11 out of 13 qualify for the playoff rounds of competition.   Congratulations to coach Garlock and his 10U team for winning the league championship and to Coach Swiger for making it the Semi-Final game at the State Championship.  The MMYFCL is very competitive with tremendous parity among its members.  As an organization we had a tremendously successful season.  Thank you to all the Coaches, Team Administrators, parents, players and volunteers for a very pleasant, productive 2008.  We look forward to a great 2009 Season.  Go Lancers!  Fear the Spear!

Fall Program

Football program fee is $140.00.   Teams will be created based on skill level of the player.  More experienced playing in Division 1, less experienced in Division II or III.   Teams will play 8 – 10 regular season games, have  a chance to qualify for year-end playoffs, with an opportunity to play the Championship Games a in the Maryland State Champions, with the final game played at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens!

SEASON/PRACTICES:

Football practice will begin August 1st for all levels. Please be prompt, wearing t-shirt, shorts, football cleats and mouthpiece. Remember to bring plenty of water! Summer practices are extremely important and essential to your child’s development in the program.  They need to be there, practices are typically 4-5 days a week at the coaches discretion, once school begins practices are cut back to 2 -3 nights per week at the coaches discretion for all age groups other than 5-6 Pit-Bulls where practice schedules are scaled back to shorter periods not more than 1.5 hrs and 4 days week in summer and not more than 2 days during school. Games are usually played on Saturdays at home or the opponent’s field as determined by the schedule.  Occasionally due to weather, make-ups or other special case a Sunday games may be played.

COACHES:

All teams have a Head Coach, several assistant coaches and a “Team Mom-Administrator”.  While they are volunteers, all coaches are required to attend training programs, submit to a background check and keep abreast of age and sport specific coaching techniques.

EQUIPMENT:

Uniforms, pads, and one (1) mouthpiece are provided by LUYAA. Players are required to wear an athletic supporter/cup and have approved non-metal tipped football cleats. There is $250.00 refundable equipment deposit due at the time equipment is handed out. There are no exceptions!  The checks will not be cashed unless you fail to satisfy the terms of the deposit agreement or volunteer bond obligations.  Refer to the document you will receive at handouts for more details.
