Lightning and Stingrays Play to Draw in Battle of London

They met half way. They both played hard. They both battled hard. In the end, it was a draw. The Tonawanda Lightning 99's and the Plymouth Stingrays (Michigan) split their two game bill on Friday. The matchup took place in London, Ontario at the Earl Nichols Arena. The Stingrays, 2009 Michigan Squirt Champions, took the first game 5-4 while the Lightning, 2009 WNYAHL Sq Minor Champions, took the second game 7-6. Both games featured strong backchecking, excellent passing, and outstanding goaltending. Game recaps below....

Game 1  Stingrays 5 - Lightning 4

The Lightning started strong taking a 3-0 lead midway through the second period only to relinquish the lead and giving up 5 unanswered goals. A late Lightning surge pushed the score to 5-4 but the late flurry proved too little too late.
