***EXCITING GAME*** (Monday 10/29 9p)
First of all let me just say that I'm really proud of the Eagles. These kids learned an entirely new offense in less than a week and did a really good job of understanding and running it in our playoff game against the Cowboys. That's hard to do for college and professional teams, let alone 7 - 8 year old boys. GREAT JOB! I'm impressed.
Pretty exciting game, especially when we were trading big plays after big plays. Their running back did an excellent job and was a good runner.
The last thing I want to say is that I'm really proud of how every player improved over the course of the season. The coaches were talking and we were all equally proud of how this team got better as the season went along and we were much better, both as a team and as individual players, at the end of the year than at the beginning.
***EAGLES WIN A CLOSE ONE*** (Wednesday 10/24 9p)
Wow, what a game. The boys played hard the entire game and didn't let down even after we fell behind. The Bengals did a great job pulling flags limiting our ability to run the football so we had to take to the air. After a couple of "almosts" Riley connected with Jackson on a deep ball and J-Man took it to the house to tie the game at 6. Then came the critical extra point. In the front corner of the endzone Riley found Robert who had incredible concentration to catch the ball which was first tipped by a Bengal player. Point after good, Eagles take the lead! The defense was excellent the entire game. Everyone contributed: Wyatt had some key pulls, Will pulled some and nearly came up with an INT at the end. Chandler was key in not allowing the Bengals to be successful on their P-A-T attempt knocking down the pass. Andrew owned his part of the field and knocked down a pass attempt. Spencer put some good pressure on their QB forcing him to rush his throws. It was a total TEAM effort. Good job, guys!
***EAGLES TAKE DOWN REDSKINS*** (Monday 10/22 8a)
The Eagles played their best game of the year beating the Redskins 18 - 6. We played great on both sides of the ball to even our record at 3 - 3 with one game left in the regular season. Defensively we played aggressive football doing an excellent job of jumping in the mix and pulling flags. Robert stepped up with a big time interception. Jackson was quick from his safety spot to fill the gap and pull some key flags. Will jumped into the backfield and pulled a flag for a loss.
Offensively Andrew did another great job running the football almost taking the first play all the way for a touchdown before being stopped right before the goal. We had a tough wind in our faces in the first half. Even with the tough wind Riley was able to connect with Andrew for one of our two first half scores. In the second half, with a friendly wind, we took advantage of the pass and Riley connected on several including a touchdown to Jackson who made a nice play on the ball stepping in front of a Redskin defender for the score.
Overall this was our best effort of the year by far, on both sides of the ball. Great job, everyone! With one more game left before the playoffs we have a chance for a winning record. I was proud of the effort from everyone!
***EAGLES DOWN DOLPHINS*** (Saturday 10/06 1p)
Defense was the key to victory last Monday in the Eagles victory over the Dolphins. Wyatt led the way pulling flags right and left along with Will. Jordan pulled down a HUGE interception and took it to the other end of the field to set up a TD. Spencer did a nice job as did Riley and Jackson on offense. Andrew made some nice runs. Everyone hustled and played great. Keep up the good work, boys!
***EAGLES FALL TO CHIEFS*** (Monday 9/24 8p)
The Eagles battled all game but came up just short losing to the Chiefs 18 - 13 Monday night. The combination of Riley and Jackson connected twice for touchdowns, once to start the game and then to finish the scoring for the night. In between the Chiefs scored 3 times to make up the 5 point margin.
I was proud how the boys battled the entire game and didn't give up. We had a chance to win in the end, we just ran out of time. The boys are getting better every game.
***EAGLES GET FIRST VICTORY*** (Thursday 9/19 8am)
The Eagles got the "W" last night over the Giants winning 7 - 0. I'm very proud of how much the kids improved from the first game to the second. Our defense was phenomenal! Jordan and Jackson led the way with 4 flag pulls each! Way to go. Everyone did a much better job of squaring up the runner and grabbing something, eventually it was the flag! That's the way to do it.
Our score came on an excellent downfield pass from Riley to Jackson who then just outran the defenders to the end zone. The extra point was tacked on after Chandler had excellent concentration catching a tipped ball in the endzone to make it 7 - 0. Riley played very well at quarterback throwing some excellent balls.
I was also proud of Will's nice catch, run and pass break-up. Robert flew all over the field on defense coming up with some key pulls. Spencer did an excellent job at center and had a key pull. Andrew didn't let a single play get past him on his side on defense...way to go! Wyatt was "Mr. Hustle" playing great defense and nearly snagging a deep ball from Riley. Keep up the good work, boys!
