Thursday, April 24 Travel Softball So, what is Travel Softball? Learn more..... LGSA Travel Softball is an extension of the Libertyville Girls Softball Assosication House League program. Travel Softball offers our girls a chance to practice more often, play highly competitive games against teams from other communities, and meet many new friends. Tryouts are held in late-August / early-September. Once teams are formed in September, some teams practice and/or play some scrimmage games during the fall as weather permits. Teams also have a few indoor softball workouts during the winter months, preparing for a strong start to the spring season. Many multi-sport athletes play Travel Softball. We understand there are conflicts during the fall and winter, and ask that players attend softball practices if they aren't involved in another sport. As the weather breaks in the spring, teams typically practice a couple of times a week. Games start in May and continue through July, with League Games during the week, and several weekend tournaments. Each team plays 30 - 50 games a season, depending on the age group. Many games are played at Libertyville High School, on the same field that LHS Softball hosts their home games. This year, we will also play some games at Nicholas Dowden and at Odom Field in Libertyville under the lights. There's a terrific opportunity to learn more about Travel Softball by attending a game this summer! CLICK HERE to open the 2008 Travel Softball home game schedule.
