Rush Finishes 2nd at Spirit Kickoff Classic
spirit logo

Congratulations to the Rush U-16 Girls (92F), led by Head Coach Seth Friedman, who advanced to the Finals of the Spirit United "Kickoff Classic" on August 16-17 in West Chester, PA.  The "Kickoff Classic" is the largest tournament in Pennsylvania and will host a combined 450 boys and girls teams in 2008.

The Rush advanced to the Finals of the tournament's Championship (top) bracket which featured, amongst others, the defending 2007 champion, Syosset Rough Rider Elite (the #1 ranked team from Eastern New York) as well as and the #2 ranked team from Eastern PA, the West Chester United Predators (2008 Eastern PA state tournament Finalist).

The Rush opened strong on Saturday with two consecutive shutouts, a 2-0 triumph over TEYSA (ranked #6 in E.Pa.) and 2-0 victory over FC Bucks (#9 in E.Pa).  After earning a berth in the Finals on Sunday, the Rush squared off against the Intense Soccer Academy (Eastern NY), who'd prevailed in a 1-0 semi-final overtime thriller over the West Chester Predators.  The Rush took command of the Final match early, sending 2 quality chances wide then hitting a crossbar, all within the game's first 5 minutes.  ISA responded with excellent, physical play in the midfield, then snapped the scoreless tie late in the first half with a fantastic individual effort from one of their forwards.  The second half saw both squads displaying championship effort as each netted a goal and ISA prevailed, 2-1.

The Spirit Kick Off Classic is a gotsoccer "Platinum" tournament, ranked #1 Pennsylvania and 22nd in the USA.

The Rush 92F start play in the U-16 PAGS Premier division in September 2008 and will follow with appearances in multiple college showcases throughout 2008 and 2009.  Way to go Rush!
