The entire coaching staff includes players who have achieved success at all levels of the game of lacrosse. Through their hard work and dedication to the sport, these coaches have developed into top notch instructors who will provide your son or daughter the elite level of coaching that they need to upgrade their game!

Josh Funk - Founder

A 2008 graduate of The Ohio State University, Coach Funk was a senior captain and Team co-MVP on the Conference Championship team that went on to the Elite 8 in 2008. Following graduation from OSU, Josh played 2 seasons with the Minnesota Swarm of the National Lacrosse League (indoor) and was named a US Indoor Team Reserve. Josh grew up in Montgomery County area, and attended Poolesville High School.  Josh recently finished graduate school and is now a Physical Therapist living in the area. He also has his certification as a Strength and Conditioning specialist (CSCS), where he has found his love for working with the youth not only in lacrosse but in specific sports training.

Matt Cornell - Administrator, Defensive Specialist

Coach Cornell, a product of Archbishop Spalding HS in Anne Arundel County, played alongside Josh all 4 years at OSU leading the squad to the Elite 8 in his senior season.  Matt graduated with a Marketing degree, and now works with Corrigan Sports Enterprises, a sports marketing and event management company who owns and operates such events as the Under Armour Baltimore Marathon, the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic, and the IWLCA Under Armour Capital Cup.

Curtiss Belcher - Director of Recruiting, Club Coach

Click for a larger viewCoach Belcher is the current coach at Poolesville High School. He has also coached at Gaithersburg and Clarksburg. Curtiss has been honored as the Montgomery County Coach of the Year twice, and has coached in the MCPS All-Star Game six times. Through the years, Coach Belcher has coached 41 players who have gone on to play collegiate lacrosse. Curtiss earned a scholarship to play football at Towson in 1990-1993 as a DL and LB. During that time he also played club lacrosse from 1991-1992.


Mike Mueller - Club Coach

Coach Mueller played high school lacrosse at Gaithersburg High School and was a member of the first varsity lacrosse team.  He went on to play 4 years at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC., where Mike was a three year starter, and a two year captain.  When Coach graduated, he was a part of the best team in Catawba’s history.  Coach Mueller has been the varsity head coach at Gaithersburg High School the last three seasons after serving five seasons as an assistant.

  

Michael Skena - Club Coach

<br><a href=Coach Skena been a social studies teacher for FCPS for the past five years. Prior to this year, he was a lacrosse coach at Brunswick High School. Mike grew up in the Western PA area and began playing lacrosse in middle school. After high school, he went on to study Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh and played club lacrosse during his time on campus .  Upon graduation, Mike began officiating lacrosse and playing recreationally.  He has now given the stripes up to coach, but you can still find him playing!


Rob Hokanson - Club Coach

Coach Hokanson began his lacrosse career at Urbana High School as a close defensmen. He was recruited and played Division II lacrosse at Wheeling Jesuit University. Following his freshmen year he transferred, and continued playing DII lax at Pfeiffer University where Rob was a captain senior year. 

Since college, he has not missed a single season coaching high school lacrosse.  He began coaching JV at St. Vincint Pallottis, and then Northwood each for a year.  He then was promoted to Head Varsity Coach at Northwood his second year.  During his two years with the program the Northwood boys’ lacrosse program reached new heights in wins and all offensive and defensive categories.  The program experienced the best two seasons in school history.  This season Coach Hokanson took over the Head Coaching position at Clarksburg High.  He led the team to an 11-3 regular season record. The team went undefeated in their division, and won the programs first ever division championship.   In addition to success on the field, Coach Hokanson effectively built programs founded on academic achievement, positive sportsmanship and citizenship in the school and community.

Billy Kingston - Coach, Developmental Team

Click for a larger viewCoach BK is a product of perennial powerhouse Huntington High School on the north-shore of Long Island where he started all four years.  During his time there he was a multiple All-Division  All County, and All America selection, and was voted Long Island offensive player of the year his senior year.  After HS he continued playing at THE Ohio State University, where injuries cut his career as a Buckeye short.  After OSU he transferred to Nassau Community College, where he was a starter and National Champion, earning offensive MVP honors in the championship game.  From there he finished his schooling and lacrosse career at Salisbury University.  Currently, coach BK is a technical recruiter in the DC area.


Trey Wilkes - Supervisor, Midfield/Face-Off Specialist

Trey attended Urbana HS, where he earned All-American honors, scooping up over 400 groundballs in his career.  Trey is currently at The Ohio State University as a member of the Men's Lacrosse team. As a freshman in 2010, Trey won the Buckeye Groundball award, while also taking the majority of the teams face-offs. Against Robert Morris, he posted a season and career best 19-23 at the face-off X.


Chris Stricklin- Goalie Specialist

Chris is currently an Assistant Coach at Goucher University, where he also played. A 2010 MVP at Goucher, Chris holds the all-time school career record for GAA (6.32) and 2nd all-time for save percentage (62.7%). Coach Stricklin earned multiple Landmark Conference Player of the Week awards during his career.  Chris played high school ball at Seneca Valley, where he was a member of the three-time West 2A/3A Regional Champs.


Ryan Dutton- Attack Specialist

Ryan Dutton-O'HaraRyan was a member of the Urbana squad that played in two State Championship games. Coach Dutton will suit up this season for the University of Michigan, who will be in their first season as a Division 1 program.


Devin Kennedy - Club Coach, Defensive Specialist

Devin played high school lacrosse for the three time 2A/3A West Regional champions, Seneca Valley. Coach Kennedy was named to the Washington Post All-Met team, and was also an All-State and All-Met football player that won the 3A state championship his senior year. Devin turned down numerous football scholarship offers to play lacrosse and continued his career at Penn State where was a 4 year starter playing both LSM and close defense. Devin continues to play in the area with Team BarFly.


Eddie Gourley- Club Coach, Midfield Specialist            

                                                                                            

Coach Gourley played high school lacrosse at Damascus, where he was a two time All-County selection and the MVP of the Montgomery County All-Star game. Eddie went on to play at Division 2 Pfeiffer College, where he was the team's leading scorer and an All-Conference selection during his junior and senior seasons.

 


Mike O'Halloran- Club Coach, Attack Specialist

Mike is a Poolesville HS product, where he was a 2 time All-County player as well as a 3 sport athlete, playing track and football. Coach O'Halloran took his talents to Philadelphia where he played attack for the Division 1 St. Joseph's Hawks and studied Finance.



Nick Carr - Face-Off Specialist

Nick originally from the Towson area, attended Calvert Hall College HS, and continued his career at The Ohio State University. As a junior, Nick was the starting face-off man on the team that went to the Elite 8 in 2008. Coach Carr currently lives in the Baltimore area, traveling in the Mid-Atlantic region as a financial resource manager.


Brian Semkiw - Club Coach, Defensive Specialist

Brian graduated from Linganore High School in 2009 where he was a 3-year starter.  He attended Lebanon Valley College in PA, and as a freshman played three games before suffering a season ending injury.  Currently, Brian is a student at Frederick Community College as he continues to rehabilitate from his injury and begins the transfer and recruiting process again. Brian has coached with many lacrosse programs in Maryland (Edge Lacrosse, Maryland Fireballs, Fellowship Christian Athletes, LOUYAA). He is very excited to join the Lax Factory coaching staff and have the chance to share his experience with the youth players of the area.


Jacqueline Orona - Girls Director

Jacqueline OronaA 2011 graduate from Ohio State, Coach Orona was a starter on attack for the 18th ranked Buckeyes and finished the season 5th in scoring. Coach Orona graduated with a bachelor degree in Speech and Hearing Science and is attending University of Maryland this fall to receive her Masters in Speech Pathology. She is excited to be back in Maryland where she was Female Athlete of the Year, 2nd Team All-American, and 1st Team All-Gazette at Poolesville HS. Coach Orona can't wait to begin sharing her lacrosse knowledge with girl athletes.


Brittany Hilton - Girls Coach

Coach Hilton graduated Stevenson University in 2010  with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a minor in marketing. She was a 4 year defensive starter on the 17th ranked Mustangs and a team captain in 2010.  Brittany lead the team in caused turnovers in 2009.  A local product, she attended Poolesville High School and played field hockey, basketball and lacrosse.
