Janet Holdsworth, the 2006 Upper Midwest Women's Lacrosse League's (UMWLL) Coach-of-the-Year, led the University of Minnesota Women's Lacrosse team to back-to-back undefeated conference seasons in 2005 and 2006, clinching the Southern Division and a second place finish in the UMWLL post-season tournament in both years.  She also served as Head Coach at Hopkins High School from 1999-2002 (taking the team to varsity status in 2001) and 2004-05 seasons, leading the team to playoffs each season, compiling a 51-11-5 regular season record, and reaching the state finals four consecutive years.  During her tenure at Hopkins, Holdsworth earned Coach-of-the-Year honors in 2000 and 2001 and received the Positive Coaching Alliance's National Double Goal "Golden Whistle" Award in 2002 (as the first female recipient and first lacrosse coach to do so).  She also led the state sanctioning process of girl's lacrosse by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) in 2001.  She is past-president of the Minnesota Lacrosse Association (the Minnesota Chapter of USLacrosse governing boy's/men's and girl's/women's lacrosse), co-founder and Vice President of the Northcentral Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association (NSLA) and former Director of Outreach for the NSLA.   She currently serves as a committee member of USLacrosse's Fastbreak Initiative, which promotes the development and growth of lacrosse throughout the country and runs coaches' and players' clinics in Minnesota through Lacrosse Connections, LLC.  She has coached Minnesota all-star teams at the Vail Shootout in Vail, Colorado, the National Tournament at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, and in Minnesota's Star of the North Tournament.  During her time coaching, Holdsworth has helped produce two collegiate All-Americans, five high school All-Americans, and two Minnesota state players-of-the year. She grew up in Springfield, PA and played both varsity lacrosse and field hockey at Wittenberg University (D-III), serving as captain of both teams.  While at Wittenberg, she played in the NCAA DIII lacrosse tournament in 1988 and earned all-conference and all-Midwest lacrosse honors.  Holdsworth is currently employed as a lecturer and research consultant in the Department of Educational Policy and Administration at the University of Minnesota - where she earned her doctorate - teaching an undergraduate leadership course and graduate-level courses in educational policy, conflict management, and research methods.

Kate Linge, currently a student at the University of Minnesota, is a captain of the 2006-07 University of Minnesota Women's Lacrosse team. Kate is a graduate of Hopkins High School, where she also played lacrosse and captained the 2003 Hopkins Girl's Lacrosse varsity team. In total, she has played over six years of lacrosse earning honors at both the high school and college level as an attacker.  In 2006, Kate was selected as a first-team all-league attack player for the Upper Midwest Women's Lacrosse League (UMWLL), and was named to the all-tournament team by the UMWLL coaches.  She has been celebrated as "MVP attack" on both the Hopkins and University of Minnesota team.  In 2006, Kate led the Gophers in points per game - second in goals scored and first in assists.   She was nominated in 2006 for All-American honors by her head coach. Kate not only enjoys playing lacrosse, but also contributing to the growth of the sport in Minnesota and the development of younger players through her work at summer camps and clinics by Homegrown Lacrosse and Lacrosse Connections.  Currently she is an at-large member of the Minnesota Lacrosse Association (MLA), Minnesota's chapter of USLacrosse, and she has held officer positions for the UMWLL and the University of Minnesota club.

Coach Jan has this to say about Asst. Coach Kate...

"Kate Linge has played for me both in high school at Hopkins and now, at the University of Minnesota.  I've chosen Kate to serve as an assistant coach because I believe she can teach the high school players the most up-to-date skills in the game.  Her passion for the game is great and her own stick skill development over time has been amazing.  She plays on her dominant and non-dominant sides of her body and cradles at all different levels, which serves her well as she maneuvers through tight space around the crease as a first home.  She can shoot with either hand up on her crosse and from, again, various levels and places around her body.  She has that ‘wow’ factor when she shoots and feeds perfectly to others.  It is so exciting to watch her play!  I believe that Kate is the most talented, skilled and unselfish attacker (Home) in the UMWLL league.  She is extremely supportive of her team mates, respectful of her coaches and works hard on developing her stick skills.  I know she will be a great role model for these young players on this select team."
