Ft Lauderdale Select is the official youth competitive soccer program for the City of Fort Lauderdale. The program is non profit organization run by a board of directors consisting of club parents in conjunction with the City of Fort Lauderdale and is for both boys and girls ages 6-13. The program trains at George English Park and Bayview Park next to Cardinal Gibbons High School in east Fort Lauderdale. The club's regular season is August 15th to Feb 15th of each year. The club also offer a spring session and coordinates youth camps and tournaments for its teams and players who desire to participate in year round events. While competitive teams are commonly referred to us "travel programs", Lauderdale Select focuses on player development and participation in local tournaments within the tri-county area that keep our players on the field and out of the car. Practices are typically twice per week with games on Saturday or Sunday. The regular season consists of ten games similar to rec league Nov-Feb schedule. The club also participates in three to four tournaments per year including the West Pines Kickoff classic in October, The Plantation Thanksgiving tournament in November, and a season ending Weston Classic in late February. The program is designed to provide opportunities for "advanced" players to transition from the City of Fort Lauderdale's recreational program into a professionally run soccer training academy.
