LASSO JR'S SPRING CAMP 2014

LASSO  has created this Juniors Program to enhance the soccer experiences of players from ages 4-8. It will not compete with Recreation, AYSO, or YMCA programs, but run adjacent to them so kids can participate in both. We view young soccer players as the foundation for the successful growth of soccer in West Michigan. Our goals are to teach players the proper techniques of soccer at an early age, to ease their development and to instill a passion and love for the game.

The dates for our Spring Camp  session are 5/7, 5/14, 5/21 and 5/28 with 6/4 as a make up date for cancelations due to weather.  The camp wll run from 6:00 pm to 7:00pm at the Riverfront Park (LASSO Soccer Fields) . The cost is $35 for all 4 sesions and includes a practice T- shirt.  Please arrive 30 minutes early the first day Sept. 20 for registration. Please print and fill out  the registration form and bring with you the first  night.

Each of the four sessions  began with age appropriate skill training. Correct technique for dribbling, passing, receiving, and shooting are among the skills that were taught. The remaining time consisted of small sided games.

This program will focused on Correct Technique and Player Development, not who wins, loses or scores goals.

Concusion Awareness

Recently, the State of Michigan has mandated that MSYSA's Members must be in compliance with Michigan Public Acts 342 and 343, which has to do with Concussion Awareness. This will require all Parents and Players to sign a form acknowledging they have received concussion education materials. Youth coaches must also complete an online concussion training program, which will be required from now on while renewing their Risk Management Certification.

Please find attached the MSYSA Memo explaining this, the Player/Parent, and Return to Play Forms. The Player/Parent Form needs to be filled out turned in at registration. All Players playing  this year will need to have this Form filled out. As well, if a Player does suffer a Concussion, they will need to fill out the Return to Play Form before they will be allowed to practice or play.

U14 Boys Win Crusader Cup

Lasso (Lowell Area Select Soccer Organization) U-14 boys celebrated a championship in last weekend’s Crusader Cup hosted by Kalamazoo Kingdom Soccer in Galesburg, Michigan.  Playing on incredible energy and skills learned from their five + years of playing experience together the tournament win was well deserved.

Lasso’s first match Friday night was a fight to a 1-1 draw vs. Kingdom’s top U-13 team.  Lasso’s goal was courtesy of a signature Logan Landman header off of Collin Bower’s cross from the right wing. Saturday morning’s victory came a bit easier with a well-played match vs. Fort Wayne Fever 3-0. With a league game Saturday afternoon trying Lasso’s conditioning, Sunday morning’s third tournament match came early, yet Lasso again prevailed 2-0 over Kingdom’s U-14 Select team.

The championship game was played only 7 hours later vs. the undefeated Kingdom Premier U-14’s. Although incredibly fatigued and facing their fifth match in less than 48 hours, the Lasso Boys fought to a 1-0 victory on a perfectly played one time shot by forward Robbie Dubisky.  Dubisky’s goal came 5 minutes into the second half. The final 30 minutes required extraordinary defense to fend off Kingdom’s attack.  Dubisky finished the tournament with a team high 5 goals.

The 2013 Crusader Cup Championship in the U-14 Boys Gold division was the first tournament championship for the Lasso 14’s.
