Lady Dawgs qualify for State Tournament for 9th Consecutive Season
LAKELAND -- Lanier County qualified for a birth to the 2008 Class A State Playoffs with a 10-1 win over Seminole County and a 8-2 win over Miller County in the Region 1-A tournament this week in Tifton. The South Sectionals will be held this year at the Southern Pines Softball Complex in Dublin. The Lady Dawgs are scheduled to open the tournament in game one of the double elimination tournament on Friday, October 17th at 4:00pm. Over the last few years the state sectionals have been no stranger to Lanier County as 2008 will mark the nineth consecutive year the Lady Dawgs have made the trip to the South Sectionals in the GHSA Class A State Playoffs. Come out and support your Lady Dawgs!!!

Sealey has standout season at Fort Valley State University
FORT VALLEY - Former Lady Bulldog, Ebony Sealey shines at Fort Valley State University. Sealey recently finished her junior season at Fort Valley State University where she helped lead the Lady Wildacts to another deep SIAC Conference run. Sealey, the starting catcher for the Lady Wildcats (26-18), led the team in hitting with a .541 batting average, 63 hits, 21 doubles, 5 triples, 2 homeruns and a .951 fielding percentage on the year. Congratulations to Ebony on an outstanding season this year at FVSU.

Mathis signs with University of North Carolina - Greensboro
LAKELAND - After lots of hardwork and careful consideration, the former Lanier County Lady Bulldog pitcher Brooke Mathis has signed to play at the University of North Carolina - Greensboro next fall. Mathis an '07 graduate of LCHS has led Lanier County to three straight 20 regular season wins, four straight Region 1A titles and four consecutive state playoff appearances reaching as high as the state final four in 2003. Congratulations to Brooke as she continues to play at the next level!
