PHILOSOPHY:

The Lakes Junior Eagles is a travel basketball feeder program for boys in 5^th through 8^th grades who reside in Lakes Community High School District 117.  All eligible players must try-out and be selected for participation on a team.  Our teams compete against other high school feeder and travel teams from the northern suburbs and other areas.  The number of games and quality of competition will generally be higher than in-house or park district leagues.  The program’s goals are to prepare players to compete at the high school level, to learn to play the game through teamwork and disciplined effort and to have fun along the way. 

Expectations: 

      ·         All players must reside in the Lakes High School District 117 (proof of residency may be required).

• All players will learn to play at a competitive level with good sportsmanship and respect for the game, other players, coaches, and referees.
• Playing time during games will be decided solely by the coaches based on performance and other factors.  As a competitive travel/feeder program, equal playing time is not guaranteed.
• Players must notify coaches, in advance, if unable to make practice or games on time.

 General Information: 

The majority of practices and home games will be held at Millburn West School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings or at Lakes High School on weekends during the afternoon.  Other practices may be held at various schools in and around Lake Villa and Lindenhurst.  The season begins early November and ends mid – March. The player registration fee for the 2011 – 2012 season is $350.  The fee includes the player’s uniform (home and away jerseys, shorts, shooting shirt and practice jersey).     

Please make sure that players carry game shoes into the gym.  Since our season runs during the winter season the outside surfaces will be wet which can hinder the players movement on the game floor.

The league has asked each team to be responsible for the bookkeeping and running the scoreboard during our home games.  Each team will ask for volunteers to run the clock and keep the official scorebook during their team games.  Instructions will be given prior to the start of the game if necessary.  This is strictly voluntary.

The Jr. Eagles are looking forward to a fantastic season for the players, coaches and fans.  The Jr. Eagles ask all parents to refrain from disruptive behavior during practices and games and provide positive support to players, coaches, and referees.
