Lady Jacket Golf: Lady Jacket News: Lady Jackets finish regular season in 3rd at the KHSAA Region 9 Tournament

The Lady Jackets finished out their regular season today with a third place finish at the KHSAA Region 9 tournament held at General Burnside State Park.  It was a very windy day which made for much higher scores for everyone who particpated.  The top two teams and top four individuals(not on the top two teams) from each region continue on to the state tournament at Bowling Green Country Club.  The Lady Jackets finished 3rd out of 14 teams after shooting a team score of 376.  Russell County won their second straight region title with a team score of 342 and Pulaski County finished second with a 375.  The Lady Jackets had three players finish in the top ten and finished one stroke behind second place Pulaski County. 

Russell County's Danielle Murray won the individual honors with a 79.   Russell County's Jalena Barnes finished second with a score of 83.   

The four individual qualifiers include Korey Coleman(84) of Lincoln County, Becky Sharpe(87) of Williamsburg, Courtney Bishop(87) of Whitley County, and Kaylee Akins(89) of Williamsburg.  Kaylee won the last individual qualifying spot in a suddem death playoff against South Laurel's Kelsey Jervis.  

Becky Sharpe led the Lady Jackets with a 87.  Kaylee Akins shot 89.  Bethany Hamblin played steady to shoot 90.  Julia Higginbotham shot 110. Kacie Cox shot 134.
