La Survivors: Welcome

LOUISIANA SURVIVORS HISTORY

On August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast area forever changing the lives of those in her path. Everyone who calls the Gulf Coast "home" lost something that day. Katrina will not be forgotten.

Her destructive fingerprints are still seen, five months later, as residents struggle to rebuild their homes and lives. However, out of the mounds of debris Gulf Coast residents are fighting to regain the way of life that was taken from them. These stories are our stories.

We are the Louisiana Survivors. We are a minor league football team showing everyone that our stories and lives did not end with Katrina's devastation. There is life after this destructive storm.

We extend a welcome invitation to males 18 and up to join us this season. Many of us need the stresses of post-Katrina-life in a friendly and competitive enviroment .

"Why Do I Want To Win"

Why do I want to win, because I don’t want to lose!! Winning doesn’t come to you, you have to go and get it. And if you stop every time a dog barks, your road will come to an end.”

"All for One= Unity"

There are two types of teams, Independent and interdependent. In a football team you should be Interdependent. Which no significant task can be accomplished without the help of essentially all teams members; Specialized in different tasks(carrying the ball, kicking the ball, blocking opposing players) and the success of the whole team. No quarterback, offensive line, defensive line, no matter how talented, has ever won a season playing alone. But on the other hand the team should be on one accord (together). If there is a teammate(s) that have excelled or gone out of the way so that the team can win, those who don’t have the intellectual that the team can win, those who don’t have the intellectual ability significantly higher than average, should still be supportive of those who are. And for those of you who are rather gifted should lend out a hand to help out your teammates who aren’t, to let them know what area they can work on.
Consistency + Persistency = Success
Success lead to victory and victory lead to an undefeated team and that can and will be you. All you have to do is support one another, believe, assist, and win. Play to win, win because you really play. If football is something you put your heart and soul in, play that way. Don't knock a man because he does well or he "Has the spotlight, try to work harder so you can be better. Run a little harder, hit a little harder, hustle a little harder, bleed a little harder, hit a little harder, make your plays a little harder and that will lead to a Harder team to beat. For you have overcome a lot, from Katrina it made Survivors and SURVIVORS WILL CONQUER ALL!!!!!!

Louisiana Survivors wins the SWFA Championship 13-7

 SURVIVORS TAKES THE GOLD

In just their second year in existence, the Louisiana Survivors have won their first League Championship. The Survivors defeated the Lafayette Hurricanes 13-7 in a hard fought game Saturday night in Houston. The Survivors jumped on the board first in a manner that's very familiar to them, defensively. Cornerback Craig Ingram returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown. It would be the first of a big night for the young defensive back. The Survivors then hit their big target tight end on a drag route across the middle for their second score. The score was 13-0 at the half. After a scoreless 3rd quarter that went back and forth, the Hurricanes scored a touchdown to make the score 13-7 in the fourth quarter. The Hurricanes had several opportunities in the 4th quarter to get even, but the difference maker would be Craig Ingram. Ingram spent much of the game covering SWFA League MVP and MLFN All-American, Courtney Allen. Ingram would finish with 3 interceptions and one touchdown. His third pick came as the Hurricanes took a shot at the end zone on 4th down with one minute remaining. What looked to be the game tying touchdown, was ripped out of the air by Ingram at the last second in the end zone. Ingram would finish as the Championship Game MVP. The Survivors now qualify for a seat in the Far West Football Association tournament versus the SWFC Champion. The Survivors are also seeking to play the TUFL and GCFA Champions. The Port City Jaguars and Houston Wolverines respectively. Congratulations to the SWFA'S CHAMPIONS LOUISIANA SURVIVORS!!!!!!!!
