Revitalized Ladyhawks Prepare for Season Opener
07-1 the gang
Sara, Leigh, Erica, & Kalee Rested and Ready to GO!

As the Ladyhawks continue to prepare for their season opener on Sunday, April 1st, one of their major off-season goals has apparently been met.  Specifically, the ability to field a whole and healthy squad on game day needed to be addressed and solved.  In all but one game last season, the Ladyhawks were forced to play at less than full strength.  In spite of playing under tremendous adversity, the Ladyhawks were tough and competitive in every game.  The Ladyhawks grit and determination apparently did not go unnoticed, because during the winter, the WAGS competition committee elected to reward the Ladyhawks and move them up to division four.

With our work definitely cut out for us, Coach Dennis set out to fill the void.  A void made larger by the departure of long time Ladyhawk and standout defensive player Ashley Mercado.  She, along with Sierra Barnett, resigned due to personal obligations that prevented them from committing to another long and grueling WAGS season.  We will miss them and wish them both the very best!

On a more positive note, the Ladyhawks have already signed five new veteran players for the spring season.  These new players will bring experience and stability to the Ladyhawks.  Three of the five presently play for the CSM women’s soccer team. The other two played for Westlake and St. Mary’s Ryken High Schools.  It is anticipated that the Ladyhawks will sign several other players prior to the start of the WAGS spring season.

This new blend of experienced players along with our solid core of hardworking and dedicated veterans, will undoubtedly make the Ladyhawks a force to be reckoned with in the WAGS U-19 Division 4.

Quotes of the Week

ATTENTION

On Commitment: “There are only two options regarding commitment. You're either in or you're out. There's no such thing as life in-between.”

" Commitment is the only thing, which lies between Dream and Reality."

On Perseverance:
The race is not always won by the fastest runner..but sometimes by those who just keep running.”

"The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination."

On Excellence: “Excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better.”

On Teamwork: "I searched for stardom, stardom I could not see.
I searched for victory, victory eluded me.
I searched for Teamwork and found ALL THREE."

"The main ingredient in stardom is the rest of the team."

On Character: "A person shows what she is by what she does with what she has."

"Although fate presents the circumstances, how you react depends on your character."

On Success: "Success is a journey, not a destination."

"The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary."

"Act as if what you do makes a difference.  It Does"

"Your future depends on many things, but mostly on you."

On Courage: Courage does not always roar.  Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying: "I will try again tomorrow."

Final Thought: "It is a funny thing about life;
if you refuse to accept anything but the best,
you very often get it."

"The winners in life think constantly in terms of I can, I will, and I am. Losers, on the other hand, concentrate their waking thoughts on what they should have or would have done, or what they can't do." - Dennis Waitley
