Welcome to Western Loudoun County's Youth Wrestling Club.

The Loudoun Youth Wrestling Club (LYWC) serves youth in Western Loudoun County, VA, ranging from Kindergarten thru 9th grade. LYWC is a member of the Northern Virginia Wrestling Federation (NVWF), and a feeder program for the Loudoun Valley High School Vikings and the future Woodgrove High School.

Dear Parents,

The Loudoun Youth Wrestling Club (LYWC) would like to welcome you to the 2009/2010 wrestling season. Let me begin by saying that I am very excited to be one of your child’s wrestling coaches this year. The other coaches and I will do our best to help your child learn and appreciate the sport of wrestling. This year’s coaching staff has over 36 cumulative years in coaching children. These programs include Baseball, Football, Soccer, Martial Arts and yes, Wrestling. Our children are at the age when it becomes VERY exciting to watch them compete. The LYWC Coaching Staff and I share the same objectives and goals for the team. HAVE FUN, LEARN MORE ABOUT WRESTLING, BUILD DISCIPLINE, AND INSTILL CONFIDENCE!

Parental participation and conduct:

Participation and support by parents is required during meets and tournaments. Parents with prior wrestling experience are encouraged to express their willingness to help assist in teaching the boys. However, not all volunteers will be chosen. LYWC adheres to a strict CODE OF CONDUCT, please ensure that you understand and intend to comply with the LYWC C.O.C.

Practice:

It is expected that the wrestlers be READY for practice i.e. dressed appropriately; comfortable stretchable clothes (no sweat pants or shirts), wrestling shoes (if you spend more than $30 on shoes you are spending too much), headgear (this is required, if your child does not have one after the first week or practice he will not practice until he gets one) and knee pads (optional). Show up ready to wrestle!

Discipline:

Discipline is stressed on and off the mat, to promote learning and safety. Bad language and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. This not only includes wrestlers, but the coaches and parents as well – we WILL lead by example. Kids should listen, be attentive to, and respectful toward all of their coaches.  Behavioral issues such as tempers, attitudes, etc will not be tolerated and the wrestlers will be asked to sit out of practice.

Important Tid-Bits for you to know:

1. All children WILL be able to wrestle at each match.

2. Wrestlers are encouraged to attend all practices and be on time.

3. Wrestlers are required to arrive at the meet, early enough for weigh-ins. If the weigh-in is missed, the child will not be able to wrestle.

4. Wrestlers should start conditioning now (calisthenics, strength, endurance, stretching).

5. Only wrestling shoes or clean sneakers are allowed on the wrestling mats.

6. Parents, siblings, friends, etc. ARE NOT allowed on the wrestling mats.

7. No food or drinks on the wrestling mat.

8. If you drop your child off for practice, please ensure you’re back 15 minutes prior to the end of the scheduled practice.

On behalf of the entire LYWC Coaching Staff, I thank you for giving us this opportunity to share a sport with your child that we have a passion for, and the chance to strengthen their sense of pride, discipline, and self confidence. Please contact me or any of the coaching staff if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Sincerely,

LYWC Coaching Staff :
