LWAA: LWAA NEWS!

LWAA Little League's Spring 2011 baseball season has begun.

Online registration is available through January 31st.

We are still looking for coaches! Please email baseball@lwsports.org if you are interested in coaching or go to www.lwsports.org and fill out a coaching application.

Our first in person registration will be Sunday January 23rd from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM in the BI-LO shopping center. Additional in person registrations will be held next weekend. Locations and times will be announced next week. 

Ages for the 2011 Little League season are determined by your child's age as of April 30, 2011. For example, if your child is 7 years old in January but has a birthday April 29th, that child's age for the 2011 season is considered to be 8 years old.

Registration costs are as follows:

League age: 4 & 5 year old tee-ball - $55.00

League age: 6 & 7 year old rookie division - $65.00 (7 year olds are welcome but not required to try out for the minors)

League age: 8 thru 12 year olds minors or majors - $75.00

League Ages 13 and up - please check back our our league website periodically (www.eteamz.com/lwaa/) as we are working on a program for our older players.

You'll notice that the ages can overlap for the divisions. Little League's research has shown that skill based breakout of players will be beneficial to the largest number of kids rather than splitting divisions by age. The concept behind providing players with an appropriate level of competition is to keep advanced players developing and interested in the game and to give less experienced players an environment in which to shine. It also gives them a chance to develop their skills and catch up more quickly since they'll have more opportunity to play.

Any player who played on a LWAA majors team last season, is automatically placed on that team for the 2011 season.

Any player league age 8 thru 12 that did not play in the LWAA majors division last season, must attend one of the try outs to be placed on a team.

Tryouts will be held in February. Dates for those tryouts will be announced in January.

All players league age 8 - 12 who were not on a LWAA majors team during the 2011 spring season are required to attend one of the two try outs scheduled for Feb. 5th and
Feb. 12th. Players must attend a try out in order to be placed on a team.

Try outs will be held Saturday Feb. 5, 2011 and Saturday Feb. 12, 2011.  Both try outs will be held at Bethel Elementary's baseball fields.  They will begin at noon but please
arrive by 11:45 to sign in.
