Valiant Effort by Injury Plagued LVBS 6th Grade Elite

We couldn’t quite get it done.  We started the year with 4 great guards, but with injuries we only had one ballhandler left.

We had to play the semi-finals with only 6 players.  We were trailing the Delaware Panthers by 3 with less than a minute left, but hit 4 foul shots down the stretch to pull out the win.

Today we played #8 ranked Team Nelson in the finals.  We kept it within 6-8 points the whole game but couldn’t make a final run.

Very proud of the boys, two straight Mid-Atlantic District runner-up finishes is still a great accomplishment.  Hopefully next year we can get over the hump.

Anaconda Sports / LVBS Announce Partnership
THE ROCK
THE ROCK

Lake Katrine, NY

Anaconda Sports, the home of THE ROCK is proud to announce it’s partnership with Lehigh Valley Basketball School (LVBS). "We are always looking to partner with organizations like LVBS.  We look forward to many years of a great partnership." said Greg Fall, Director of Basketball Operations for Anaconda Sports Inc.

THE ROCK STORY

Big things always start out small! When John Stote III, the founder of Anaconda Sports decided to enter his own basketball into the very competitive ball market, he christened the name "THE ROCK". With a trademark in hand, John began to promote the complete "ROCK" basketball line nationally.

John's first pick for his new "ROCK" Team was his former high school coach Les Lombardi. Les won a Maryland State AA Championship, and built a successful collegiate Division III program at Delaware Valley College. Les and John started "THE ROCK" rolling by becoming the "OFFICIAL BALL" of the prestigious Great Alaska Shootout over two decades ago. The recent major additions include the McDonald's Boys and Girls All American Games, 2k Sports Classic, The CBE Classic, The Old Spice Classic and The Maggie Dixon Classic.

John made Dick Vitale his top draft choice for his new team. Dick's popularity and enthusiasm for "THE ROCK" make him as valuable as a 7'2" center that can dribble and shoot. The phrase: "Shoot The ROCK Baby" is now a household saying and now Dick is in the Hall of Fame.

Mike Deane, then at Siena and now head coach at Wagner College via Marquette and Lamar, was the first division I head coach to join "THE ROCK" team. Next additions to follow included Rollie Massimino, now head coach at Northwood University, and Kevin O'neil then at Marquette and now an assistant with the NBA Memphis Grizzlies.  All three have received the Anaconda Lifetime Achievement Award at our Final Four Party. Rapidly hundreds of other coaches from all divisions and high school levels joined on board.

THE ROCK Advisory Board grew to now include Jim Boheim of Syracuse (2003 National Champion), John Beilein of Michigan, Paul Hewitt of Georgia Tech, Fran MacCaffery of Siena and Bobby Gonzales of Seton Hall.

Newer additions include Phil Martelli of St. Joseph's, Dereck Wittenberg of Fordham, Brian Gregory of Dayton, and Jerry Wainwright of DePaul.  Respected women's coaches include Phyllis Mangina of Seton Hall and MAchelle Joseph of Georgia Tech.

Nando DiBiase became the first non-American member to join the team designing and manufacturing Anaconda's complete Italian line of practice wear, coaches gear, and custom uniforms.  Greg Fall, former University of Tennessee Assistant was brought in to help promote THE ROCK on a national level.

The International ROCK TEAM is supported by the "Anaconda Army" of dedicated sales and support staff that promote THE ROCK on a daily basis.

U10 AAU Nationals Update

Our LVBS U10 4th Grade team has now completed 2 games in pool play with 1 win and 1 loss.  Game 1 had us face a much bigger Louisiana Bayou Flames Team.  After a nervous 1st quarter in which we fell behind 21-9, the boys fought back hard to pull within 7 points heading into the 4th quarter.  Unfortuantely, we were not able to convert the key baskets and the Flames height took over with some 2nd chance points and we were defeated by a final of 57-41.

In game 2 we played Showtime from Detroit.  The boys were determined to play their best  and came out with great pressure defense that resulted in many turnovers and easy transition baskets.  As a team we did a great job keeping there big man off the offensive glass.  We never trailed in this game and the final score ended  54-32.

Our final game in pool play will be Friday afternoon against the 6th ranked Peurto Rico Playmakers.  This will be a great challenge for the boys as they play great team basketball and they are anchored by a 5'10" center.
