LVBS: Welcome

Welcome To The Lehigh Valley Basketball School

Lehigh Valley Basketball School (LVBS) is a registered AAU organization committed to the development of basketball players from the beginner to the advanced level of play. We believe that the correct combination of instruction, player development, and top-level competition allows each member of the Lehigh Valley Basketball School to reach their complete basketball potential.

Philosophy and Mission Statement  Founded in the fall of 2006, the Lehigh Valley Basketball School's main objective is to provide a foundation in building out a first class organization for the "serious" player in the Lehigh Valley. By providing a positive learning environment and quality basketball instruction to boys and girls, ages 11 to 17, the Lehigh Valley Basketball School will carry out it's mission of retaining and exposing the local player. The Lehigh Valley Basketball School will provide each one of its members with the opportunity to compete in regional and national level tournaments as well as exposure to the best coaching at the grassroots level of basketball, with a heavy emphasis on player development.

In addition, the Lehigh Valley Basketball School is a sponsored program. The School's relationship with Fasst Performance and provides individual programs enhancing our players basketball speed, agility, and strength. Our relationship with the Hoop Group and Five Star Basketball Camp entitles our members to discounts on some of their camp sessions. Local Businesses also contribute to our program through donations and their services.

Program Description and Evaluation  A key component of the School will be to broaden the youngster's range of experience through travel for tournament and exhibition play. The tournaments in which they play will provide them the opportunity to be measured against the best in New York City, Philadelphia, Canada, and the United States.

Currently there are over 100 players in the Lehigh Valley Basketball School serving seven boys teams and one girls team. In 2011 AAU went to a grade division tournament format. LVBS in 2012 will field boys teams in grades 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th. Currently there is a girls team representing grade 6th.

While success of our organization can be measured in games and tournaments won, the clearest measure of success for the Lehigh ValleyBasketball School will be the high school diplomas earned, college scholarships awarded, and graduates being productive in a wide variety of other respected professions.

Therefore, every effort is made to keep life in the organization simple and straightfoward. From the rules of the game itself and those of good sportmanship, the Lehigh Valley Basketball School players and coaches must abide by the following rules:

  1. All players must attend school and maintain a C average to participate.
  2. No drugs or alcohol.
  3. Hats and caps off in the gym.
  4. No fighting or foul language.

Relationships  Close relationships with local and national high school and college coaches gives the Lehigh Valley Basketball School  the opportunity to host top level clinics and projects on a local basis. In addition, it is our goal to use these relationships to help facilitate and expose our players to college teams throughout the country. Some of these relationships are with the following schools:

Division I - Syracuse, Seton Hall, Michigan, Penn State, Wagner, Northeastern, St. Joseph's, St John's, Cornell, Colgate, Columbia, SUNY Albany, Hofstra, Boston College

Division II - Newberry College, St. Rose, Lemoyne, Kutztown, Bloomsburg St., East Stroudsburg University

Division III - DeSales, Ithaca, Hamilton, Franklin and Marshall, SUNY Potsdam, Moravian,  SUNY IT, Muhlenberg, Kings, Alvernia,  USMMA, University of Scranton, Ursinus , Penn St. York,

LVBS Elite players Matt Wisely and Steve Gigler lead Emmaus to LVC crown over Freedom

Matt Wisely's game-tying shot with 10 seconds left and Emmaus High School's boys basketball team hung on for a 47-44 victory over Freedom in the Lehigh Valley Conference title game before a screaming capacity crowd at Allen High School's Milo Sewards Gym.

"This feels awesome," said the 6-foot-7 Wiseley, who had a stellar night with 17 points and 17 rebounds.

Gigler's defense and clutch shooting helped keep Freedon's runs in the second half at bay.

BST Player Pat Moore Lights Up Lehigh

Bethlehem, Pa.

Pat Moore loves the Lehigh Valley

Former Notre Dame, Utica star and Blackout Session Player (BST) player Pat Moore's torrid shooting kept Colgate University in the game against Lehigh last night. Moore got little help from the rest of his team but kept Colgate in the game until the 11:00 minute mark by hitting his first 7 three point attempts and finishing the game going for 8 - 10 for a game high 23 points.

Two years ago Moore set the gym scoring record at NDGP in the Jeff Dailey tournament against Pius X scoring 46 points.

Former LVBS Elite and Notre Dame Green Pond Player Ambielli Chooses St. John Fisher

Adam Ambielli

Bethlehem Township, Pa.

June 8, 2011

LVBS Elite and Notre Dame Green Pond 1000 point scorer Adam Ambielli will continue his basketball career at the next level and play for the Saint John Fisher Cardinals and coach Rob Kornaker in Rochester, NY. For the second straight year Adam was a Colonial League All-Star and scored his 1000 point this past season playing for the Blue and Gold Crusaders. Adam played for the 17U LVBS Elite team during the 2010 AAU season.

Good luck Adam and represent LVBS !

About the Cardinals:

Last season, Fisher made its 18th consecutive trip to the postseason and returned to the NCAA Division III Championships. The Cardinals, who reached as high a national ranking as 22 throughout the season, posted a stellar 15-1 record in the Empire 8 Conference and made it to the second round of the national tournament before bowing out and ending the season with a 23-6 overall record – the program’s 23rd consecutive winning campaign.
In the 2004-2005 season, Kornaker’s Cardinals finished with a 28-1 overall record, including an undefeated regular season. That season, Fisher set College records for wins in a season and consecutive wins (28)—and obtained the program’s highest national ranking, climbing to No. 3 in the national poll. Fisher entered the 2005 postseason as the only undefeated team in all of college basketball at 27-0.

In the 2005-2006 season, Fisher advanced to the “Elite 8” of the NCAA Division III Championship, the furthest into the postseason the Cardinals have ever been in their 44-year history.

In the 2006-2007 season, Fisher finished with a 24-6 overall record, marking the program’s fifth-straight 20-win season, a feat accomplished by just five other institutions.

LVBS Elite 11th Grade Team Reaches Philly Jam Fest Semi Final

May 22, 2011

Philadlephia University

LVBS Elite (17U) team enjoyed a successful weekend playing in the Philly Jam Fest.  We split our games on Saturday (won by 19 vs Philly Knights; lost by 2 vs Keystone Blazers).  We won our first game on Sunday morning against an unbeaten, physical team from Baltimore to win our bracket.  Unfortunately, we ran into an excellent team in the Game 7 Shore Sharks from Middletown, NJ who ended our tournament in the semi-finals game. The Sharks went on to win the tournament.     The boys should be proud of their effort this weekend.  We played excellent defense, rebounded the ball well, and were unselfish on the offensive end.

We did experience a casualty today as Timmy Carlon broke two bones in his lower right leg attempting to block a shot.     He’ll be in a splint for a few days until the swelling subsides enough for a hard cast to be placed on his leg.  Timmy will be sorely missed for the remainder of the AAU season.  Timmy brings a lot of enthusiasm and passion to the LVBE Elite.  He likes the 3 ball as well.  He is expected to be out 4-8 weeks.   Please join me in wishing Timmy a quick recovery  and a hopeful return for the Stellar Tournament.

Valiant Effort by Injury Plagued LVBS 6th Grade Elite

We couldn’t quite get it done.  We started the year with 4 great guards, but with injuries we only had one ballhandler left.

We had to play the semi-finals with only 6 players.  We were trailing the Delaware Panthers by 3 with less than a minute left, but hit 4 foul shots down the stretch to pull out the win.

Today we played #8 ranked Team Nelson in the finals.  We kept it within 6-8 points the whole game but couldn’t make a final run.

Very proud of the boys, two straight Mid-Atlantic District runner-up finishes is still a great accomplishment.  Hopefully next year we can get over the hump.
