Lyons Township Little League: 2009 Season Divisions

A-Ball
A-Ball is our highest level. It is competitive baseball. The intricacies of baseball are taught in order to prepare kids for the next level (Babe Ruth). It will be assumed most players have the necessary skills and generally understand the game. Still having fun and making it a good experience will be emphasized. A-Ball consists mostly of 11 and 12 year olds.

B-Ball
B-Ball is all child pitch. Skills at specific positions will be enhanced and win-loss records will be kept. Children will play as many positions as possible, but always keeping the child's safety in mind, first and foremost. Stealing is permitted. There is a tournament at the end of the season between the Lyons Township B teams and the Pleasantdale B-teams. The winner of the tournament plays the first place winner team from Western Springs on the 4th of July. B-Ball consists mostly of 10 and 11 year olds, and a few 9 year olds.

C-Ball
C-Ball is child pitch, until four balls are thrown. At that point an adult will come in and pitch overhand from the mound and finish the at bat. Children can strike out. Again, almost all positions should be attempted. This is not a competitive level and due care will be taken to ensure skills are taught by the coaches. C-Ball consists mostly of 8 and 9 year olds.

T-Ball
T-Ball is open to all kids born on or before April 30, 2002. The season starts with children hitting exclusively off a tee. When ready, an adult will pitch slowly and give each child three swings. This occurs usually within two weeks of the first game. If the batter misses, they will go back on the tee. Everyone hits and everyone plays all positions, if capable. The very basics will be taught at this level and each coach will have been instructed on the basics. T-Ball consists mostly of 6 and 7 year olds.
