Wolves Scavenge A Win
Few chances which yielded two goals by Kansas City Wolves saw Blue who had five good chances to score pay for their profligacy, and go down to the at Burns Park today and they can have no complaints as their loan strike came from Sparks as Paletskih and Ihmeidan were unable to play.LRFC could have comfortably been three or four up by the half and early on Sparks found himself through on the right side of the box but pulled his shot across the face of the goal letting off the keeper off the hook. Scharff was disappointed that his neat touch that put him in shooting position lead to a strike that he didn’t connect well with and the keeper was comfortable. The Wolves had one opportunity that did see Maxell getting a touch to his right to push around the post. It was the only moment of worry for LRFC in the half. Blue were being patient and it was allowing them to produce some good football and when Silvestri’s run was picked out he lifted the ball over from close range. Shortly before the half Blue did have the lead after Silvestri hammered the ball goalward from the edge of the box, the keeper blocked, but Sparks launched himself at the ball to head home from close range.
The second half saw the Wolves up their game as you would expect but LRFC still had enough to stay ahead if they could convert chances. It was the Kansas team that got the goal and level the game as the got down the left and the forward was able to drive in the box and fire through the legs of Maxwell. Hart should have been awarded a penalty after was tripped on the left of the box but the ref said he saw no contact. The game became stretched and Hart after a good run elected to shoot from a tight angle instead of pulling the ball across the face of goal. The Wolves goal then lead a charmed life as two times in rapid succession the ball was blocked from close range by the keeper and a defender on the line. Kansas took the lead in similar fashion to their first except this time the forward picked out the far corner. Blue were awarded a penalty after he (Hart) was hauled back in the box. Unfortunately for Blue Scharff missed his first of the season. One last moment for LRFC that saw them get behind on the right and when the cross came across the face of goal with not a defender in site and the goal gaping but there was no Blue player there either.
