LMHA MITE NIGHT
Thank you to all LMHA, North London, and SSE London participants and their families at the LMHA MITE NIGHT at Argyle Arena on Friday, March 21st. The visits by Tony the Tiger and the Easter Bunny were very much appreciated, as were the treats provided by Tim Horton's. Pictures are on the ALBUMS page, courtesy of Paula Di Domenico. Sunday, March 16 LMHA Atom Red A Wins Kanagio tournament in Port Stanley The London Thunder lived up to their name to take the Gold in the Atom Division of the Kanagio Hockey Tournament in Port Stanley on Thursday March 13, 2008. London maintained control of the puck throughout their medal game against Dorchester, rarely allowing Dorchester a scoring opportunity and winning the Gold with a shut-out victory of 5 - 0. First period goals were scored by Adrian Chin from Keishan McLellan and Michael Fisher, and by Alex Bonnar from Nicholas Vanstone and Cory Ford. Alex Bonnar scored the only second period goal off a pass from Kyle Robb. On a power play late in the third Alex Bonnar scored from Nicholas Vanstone, and Adrian Chin wrapped it up with a final goal scored 12 seconds later. The shut-out goes to goalie Adrian Meiller. London took the Gold and Dorchester had to settle for the Silver.
Sunday, March 9 LMHA THUNDER CLASSIC Thank you to the amazing group of LMHA volunteers who were responsible for the successful tournament on March 14-16. Can't say enough good things about the endless hours spent in the arenas, the hard work, great company and many laughs shared by my wonderful friends. Special thanks to the young folks who serve as our "crew in training", and are in the process of learning all of the facets of the tournament, so that one day they can provide leadership roles in this great association. Congratulations to the Champions and Finalists.
Friday, February 22 In Memoriam As parents and hockey people that we all are, the tragic death of Mickey Renaud, captain of the Windsor Spitfires has hit really hard. Especially the age of 19, as we all have contact with kids at this age. Our Midget 2 LMHA team has sent a donation and signed card to the Windsor Spitfire Foundation, in memory of Mickey Renaud. The kids and parents were in full support. It's something the kids really took to heart, as it affects them too. The reality is, of course, it's just a game and we need to reinforce that for all. Our intention was to show support to both the hockey association and the Renaud families.
