The staff of New Jersey District 19 recently had the privilege of assisting with prospective umpire education in Cameroon, South Africa.
Djowouo Petkeu Pierre Damien from Cameroon, the Senior Physical and Sport Education Teacher and National Technical Director for Baseball and Softball, met with the staff of New Jersey District 19 for a presentation on umpire education.
Tony Richardson, New Jersey State Director, arranged the meeting along with Dan Velte from Little League International. Tony Richardson, Mike Messick, Sean Doherty, Mike Lacava, and Bud Coates contributed to the meeting and presentation.

Little League is pleased to announce an enhancement to its volunteer coaches training programs with the addition of “Big Al Baseball” Clinics and several new tools, materials and resources. In 2012 many Little League districts and leagues across North America will have the opportunity to participate in the clinic series.
Big Al and his son Scott have provided hands on training to over 150,000 coaches and their program is recognized internationally. They bring their passion for Little League and a rich set of experiences as players, coaches, instructors and professional educators to every training session.
The clinics are organized into two four-hour training sessions; One session targets coaches and parents working with players 9-to-13 years old and the second session is for coaches of players 5-to-8 yrs old. Both sessions are designed to help coaches and coaching coordinators; teach the skills, correct common mistakes, plan active practices, leverage effective drills and competitions and organize proper warms and pre-game activities.| EAST REGION BIG AL COACHING CLINIC |

Little League Baseball & Softball's East Region will once again present the 2012 Little League East Region Michele Smith Softball Clinic. Little League and the two-time Olympic Gold-medalist are teaming up to bring Little League Softball managers and coaches an EXCLUSIVE one-day clinic covering all aspects of the sport. The clinic will be held on Sunday, March 11th, 2012 at the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Leadership Training Center here in Bristol, CT.
Michele, one of the greatest players in the game's history, will provide tips, skills, drills and more, sharing with you the experience she's gained from playing softball at the highest levels all over the world. Michele Smith is a two-time Olympic Softball Gold Medalist. As a key member of Team USA, Michele won gold medals in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
All you have to bring are a glove, your equipment and a strong desire to make your softball program the best it can be. The cost of the clinic is just $25 per person. You'll receive a clinic outline developed by Michele, plus a Little League Softball Rulebook and lunch. The clinic will be held rain or shine at Little League's Eastern Region Headquarters.

Attention all local league Presidents, Player Agents and Safety Officers!!!
The 2012 East Region League Administration Clinic is scheduled to kick off the 2012 season! Here are some details regarding the upcoming clinic that is geared toward assisting local league volunteers in the organizing and administering the Little League Baseball and Softball programs.
2012 East Region League Administration Clinic
Location: LLB Eastern Region Headquarters - Giamatti Center
Date: Saturday, January 28th, 2011 and Sunday, January 29th, 2011
Fee: $50.00 per person (includes all materials, 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches)
*No housing will be offered at the Giamatti Center for this clinic*
League Presidents/Officials: Walk through a season with a typical Little League and learn the policies and procedures for league operation. Experience real concerns faced everyday with leagues and learn how to address and handle them. From promotion of registration to tournament time, this session provides valuable information to grow and manage your league.
Player Agents: This topic reviews the many important roles of the Player Agent. From assisting with registration to the tryouts and draft, this material provides great information for any board member. Trades, releases and options are covered thoroughly as well as tournament affidavit policies and responsibilities.
Safety Officers: Review the step by step plan for a qualified safety plan to help make your league safer for everyone. Learn the items needed to receive a 20% credit on your league's insurance fees.

Little League International, in an effort to provide education and increase the opportunities for its grass-roots volunteers in the rules and regulation modification process, have developed a series of regional round tables.
A round table will be held in each of the five U.S. regions, and all District Administrators (DA) and Assistant District Administrators (ADA) in each of the regions are invited to attend the two-day event to be conducted at a designated location in their region.
The agenda for each regional round table, which will include an educational component as well as a rules and regulation session, has been assembled from a survey completed by DAs and ADAs in that region. The survey allowed DAs and ADAs to submit a list of topics that they would like to see covered at the round table sessions.
DAs and ADAs will participate in the interactive regional round tables every four years, giving them a voice and a forum every two years when combined with Congress events.
The regional round table events will be conducted by members of the Little League Regional Staff and Little League International Staff.

When President Rich Hassan of the Weston Little League was golfing in the Dominican Republic a few years ago, he never knew a conversation with the caddie would lead to such a generous effort by his league's players back home.
That day, Mr. Hassan learned of the Adonia League. There, players didn't have uniforms, many played in flip-flops, and batting helmets were scarce. Mr. Hassan was determined to help out the Adonia League.
Mr. Hassan was able to obtain pictures of the players from Adonia so that his Weston players knew what it meant to be helping out a league in need.
Last month, a ceremony was held at Bisceglie Field in Weston, CT. The Weston Little League players ran up to home plate in groups of six and ceremoniously removed their playing uniforms so that they could be donated to the Adonia League. A local cleaning business donated their serices and washed all of the uniforms that were to be donated to Adonia. Additionally, the players from Weston donated seventy pairs of cleats and a number of batting helmets, bats, and baseball pants.
President Rich Hassan delivered the uniforms and other donated items to Adonia in a recent trip to the Dominican Republic. The Adonia players couldn't have been more happy with their newly aquired baseball gear!
Sosua, a neighboring league to Adonia, is now being helped out in a similar fashion by the Stamford, CT Little League all thanks to the original effort by Weston Little League.
