LETTER TO THE MEMBERSHIP FROM THE L.I.C.C.A. PRESIDENT 3/9/09

    Dear L.I.C.C.A. Coach,

In all the years I have been a coach and a member of L.I.C.C.A., I have never had to respond to comments that are completely inaccurate.  Most issues are resolved in a professional manner within the cheer community. The Executive Board follows all procedures and rules that voting organizations follow.

I must, however, respond to an e-mail sent by the Hofstra coach because it is a personal and slanderous attack.  As an alumna of Hofstra, whose husband was an All-American La Crosse goalie, and whose daughter earned her M.B.A. there, I am appalled at her comments concerning my support of my alma mater.

Our L.I.C.C.A. Constitution clearly states in the amendments (V) that, "Exhibitions are prohibited." We did this to prevent any conflicts of interest and not to exclude any one group.  A discussion and vote to change this for the future was held by the entire board.  How does Ms. Nowierski know how I voted?

After this meeting I was called by Hofstra's Director of Spirit and Support. She was concerned, and we had a cordial discussion.  Because of this recent e-mail, I will be speaking with her again.

L.I.C.C.A applauds the achievements by the Hofstra team.  When I go to Alumni football games I am thrilled to see them. My reputation at Hofstra is very important to me. Ms. Nowierski has no right to sully it.

    Sincerely, Gail
