" I am honored again to be the first blogger for the Lutheran South Hockey Club. Last week I came back from my chaperone gig with the newleyweds Mr. and Mrs. Dave Stelmacki. Since I was along on their honeymoon in Poland, I had a chance to sneak away many days to try and find Lutheran hockey players in the Polska first division. That lasted about one hour, since all the rinks were closed. When we came back, it was no surprise to me that the South Hockey team is now 2-0 with Mr. Stelmacki behind the bench. All kidding aside head coach Dan Bertarelli did his best while Mr. Stelmacki was gone.

    South is now 4-1 this year after a stunning 3-1 win over Vianney. as coach Bertarelli said " teams need to realize that when they come to the tank, they need to be at their best to beat us". As with the Blues, goaltending is the key. Young goalies Rhodes and Bonastia have been the backbone to the team. Great play by Hill, Beining, Schlote, Sparks, Durham, Stanko, Sabo, Budrovich, Frederick, Kaufman, Komlos, Mantei, Mash, Pirtle, Purcell, Schneider, everyone pitching in. Keep up the great work. MINI GAME- LUTHERAN SOUTH-1 SECKMAN-0

Lutheran South has advanced to the Wickenheiser Cup Finals for the first time in school history. After beating Parkway North in the first round, 8-2 and 9-1, South then beat Wentzville Holt 7-5 and 5-5 to advance to Semifinals against Seckman. After winning the first game 3-2, South lost the second game 4-1. This led to a 10 minute Mini Game, which South won 1-0 in thrilling fashion. The lancers were led by goaltenders Nick Bonastia and Taylor Rhodes. Chris Hill led the attack with 10 goals and 9 assists in the 6 playoff games.

 This leads Lutheran South to the Scottrade Center where they will face league rival Whitfield in the finals, Wednesday , March 7th at 5:30 PM.
