Lafayette Little League: Age / Division Rules

PEE WEE LEAGUE (7 - 8 year olds)
The Pee Wee League is comprised of 7 and 8 year old players. Participation in this league is limited to 140 players due to the limited number of playing fields. Returning players and siblings are given priority over new participants prior to walk-in registration. There are no tryouts for this league. Players will be selected to a team through a coach’s draft. Coaches are required to have a minimum number of 7 and 8 year old players on each team. There is no guarantee that players, other than siblings, will play on the same team.



MAJOR LEAGUE (11-12 year olds)
Try-outs are only held for Spring Baseball ONLY, there are NO Try-outs for Fall Baseball.
The Major League program will field a maximum of 10 teams.ALL PLAYERS are required to attend one of the try out sessions. The number of new players is limited due to the limit on the number of teams and field availability. Depending on the number of new players, some may not be drafted on to a Major League team. For those kids who do not get drafted to a Major League team, they will be given the option of playing in the Minor 10/11 division or have their registration fees refunded.



JUNIOR LEAGUE (13-14-15 year olds)
Try-outs are only held for Spring Baseball ONLY, there are NO Try-outs for Fall Baseball.
All 13, 14 and 15 year old players must attend tryouts. We are limited to the number of 15 year olds we can take. Therefore, they will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.



CHALLENGER DIVISION
The Challenger Division was established in 1989 by Little League International as a separate division of Little League Baseball to enable boys and girls with physical and mental disabilities, ages 5-18 or until completion of high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate worldwide. Any disabled child can play regardless of their disability.
There are no tryouts for this league. Players will be placed on teams by the league.


Wednesday, December 19
T-BALL LEAGUE (5 - 6 year-olds)
The newly formed T-Ball League is comprised of 5 and 6 year old players. Participation in this league is limited to 100 players due to the limited number of playing fields. Siblings of current players are given priority over new participants prior to walk-in registration. There are no tryouts for this league. Players will be placed on teams by the league. Coaches are required to have a minimum number of 5 and 6 year old players on each team. There is no guarantee that players, other than siblings, will play on the same team.


MINOR LEAGUE (9 – 10 year olds)
Try-outs are only held for Spring Baseball ONLY, there are NO Try-outs for Fall Baseball.
The Minor League system is comprised of all 9 and 10 year old players. All players need to appear at one of the 9 & 10 yr old tryout sessions. The 9 and 10 year olds will remain in separate divisions. Eleven year-olds that are not selected to a Major League team will be given the option of playing in the Minor 10/11 division.
