Lafayette Little League: 2017 Spring Season Baseball Divisions at LLL

Tee Ball (5-6)
Lafayette Little League's Tee Ball Division is all about FUNdamentals! LLL utilizes Little League International's Tee Ball Program that emphasizes baseball fundamentals in a fun environment. Tee Ball typically plays one game per week. LLL requires that all Tee Ball batters/base runners wear a helmet with a facemask. The League provides proper helmets on a first come first serve basis and many parents choose to purchase their player's own helmet. Bats in the Tee Ball Division shall have a MAX barrel diameter of 2-1/4".

Pee Wee 7
The Pee Wee 7 Division at LLL is for players League Age 7. The Division provides further emphasis on fundamentals, but the Tee is traded in for the big bad Pitching Machine! It's amazing how even the smallest players adapt to the Pitching Machine. The Division typically plays 2 games per week. There are no Tryouts for PW7. Helmets with facemasks are used in this Division and bats can have a MAX barrel diameter of 2-1/4". (Note - The Pitching Machine pitches 42 mph and most Tee Ball bats are not rated for that speed.)

Pee Wee 8
Let's light the scoreboard up for the Division that has the most exciting games in the Park! The Pee Wee 8 Division utilizes the Pitching Machine and focuses on player development. All players in PW8 must participate in Tryouts before the season. The Division typically plays 2 games per week. Helmets with facemasks are used in this Division and bats can have a MAX barrel diameter of 2-1/4". (Note - The Pitching Machine pitches 42 mph and most Tee Ball bats are not rated for that speed.)

Minor 9
Minor 9 at LLL is for League Age 9 year old players. This is the first opportunity for kids to take the mound at LLL. There are ups and downs for both pitchers and batters as they both learn balls and strikes, but the focus is on fundamentals. All players in Minor 9 must participate in Tryouts before the season. Helmets without facemasks can be used, however many players / parents choose to leave the facemask on. The Division typically plays 2 games per week and bats can have a MAX barrel diameter of 2-1/4".

Minor 10
Minor 10 at LLL is for League Age 10 year old players. Much like Minor 9, the Minor 10 Division players are in the beginning stages of learning to pitch. But as the players get stronger, the game speed picks up tremendously. All players in Minor 10 must participate in Tryouts before the season. Helmets without facemasks can be used. The Division typically plays 2 games per week and bats can have a MAX barrel diameter of 2-1/4".

Major (11-12)
The Cornerstone Division of the Park! The Major Division of LLL is for players League Age 11 and 12. The most competitive games and where baseball fundamentals start really coming together. All players in Majors must participate in Tryouts before the season. Helmets without facemasks are used. The Division typically plays 2 games per week and bats can have a MAX barrel diameter of 2-1/4".

Junior / Senior (13-16)
Lafayette Little League's Junior / Senior Division is a competitive league for players league age 13 - 16. LLL utilizes 60/90 fields in this division to promote arm strength and preparing players for High School ball. All players in Junior / Senior must participate in Tryouts before the season. Games for our Junior / Senior season begins around the time School ball ends.
