Kilroot Rec: Pre Season. 2005/06

2C CHAMPIONS GIVE BARN A TOUCH OF REALITY
Saturday 6/8/05 @ Peoples Park, Barn Fields
Barn United 1 v 4 Kilroot Rec.

Barn United of 1A entertained Kilroot Rec division 2c champions 04/05 @ the Peoples Park Barn Fields on Saturday 6/8/05.
This was an entertaining game with Kilroot very much on top in the first half leading by three clear goals at the interval.
The scorers were James Pherson with an acrobatic overhead kick gave Priestly in the Barn goals no chance; the second came after a surging run from Darren McKinty 25 yards out he unleashed an unstoppable shot which nestled in the Barn goals, the third another McKinty goal a back post header from a Paul Mathers free kick.
Second half it was still Kilroot who took the game to Barn but amazingly there was only two more goals scored one for each side with sub Lee Johnston latching onto a poor back Hamilton (captain) David Kidd, John Mathers, Nicky Sharples, Darren White and Ian Banks.   pass to lob Priestly in the Barn goals.
In the last 15 minutes Barn came more into the game but squandered a few chances, Oozy replied for Barn.
Manager Jim Pherson was overjoyed at the disciplined performance from the in form Kilroot and this argues well for the start of the new season in division 2b

Scorer
J Mathers

This match will be remembered for all the wrong reasons the manner in which it was played and the premature finish when Kilroot’s David Adams and Philip Burnside clashed heads when attempting to clear attack, both ended up in hospital needing stitches.
Many thanks to Carrick under 18teens for the loan of their young keeper Scott Lowden who performed with distinction.
