Kent Island Little League: Welcome
.
KIYBSC Replaces Little League
Saturday, December 6, 2008
The Kent Island Youth Baseball and Softball Club Incorporated (KIYBSC) was formed in October 2008, effectively replacing its predecessor organization, Kent Island Little League. KIYBSC was established to seize upon long standing opportunities to improve the existing baseball and softball experience for youth athletes on Kent Island and the surrounding community.
Several benefits of the new organization include:
- Opportunities to play against teams outside of the local league;
- Increased tournament play opportunities throughout the regular season;
- Renewed emphasis on player's skills development
- Ability to implement league specific playing rules as appropriate; such as a 70 foot diamond for majors level baseball
- Greater flexibility with respect to league affiliations;
- Improved league transparency and communication.
Registration for the upcoming season will begin in January 2009, for ages 4 through 18. Look for the 2009 registration flyers to be distributed in the local schools during December 2008. KIYBSC recognizes that the success of any youth sports league is dependent on the support of its member volunteers and that of the local community. To ensure the success of the 2009 season, KIYBSC is seeking volunteers to fill various volunteer and committee positions. If you interested in volunteering or would like to explore further opportunities for you to get involved, email Steve Hampton, President, KIYBSC at president@kiybsc.org or visit KIYBSC's recently launched website at www.kiybsc.org. KIYBSC is also planning its first annual league membership meeting to be held in January 2009. Details of the meeting will be posted on the Club's website once finalized. The meeting will provide an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Club's overall vision, meet the Board of Directors, discuss the Club's affiliation with the Babe Ruth League/Ripken Baseball, and unveil the goals for the 2009 season and beyond.
