Adult Skating
Adult skating will be held on Sunday mornings at 8:00-9:00 AM. Adult skating will be held on the following dates:

January- 15, 22, 29
There is room for more skaters, if interested please call Cindy @ 836-3078 or Bonnie @ 836-5384.
*If interest continues there will be 6 more sessions on Feb 5, 12, 19, 26 & March 11 and 18.

KAFSC Club Competition
Club competition registration will take place December 2nd and December 5th at the front doors of the rink. This competition is on January 9, 2012 for stages 3 to preliminary skaters. Cost is $8 per skater regardless of number of events entered.

Christmas Skating Demonstation/ Fun Day
On Monday, December 12, 2011 we are planning to have a Christmas skating demonstration with all of our skaters. It will be between 5-5:30 pm. Then from 5:30-6:30 the ice will be opened up for all of our skaters to go out and enjoy a skate with their KAFSC skating friends. There will be treats for all of the skaters to get into the Christmas spirit. Parents, Grandparents, and friends are invited to come and watch our skaters skate to Christmas songs. Junior/Senior skaters will have regular ice time from 6:30-8pm. We will be doing our fundraiser draw around 5:30 pm. Draw tickets must be put into the draw box in the music room by December 9 to be in the draw.

PEI Fall Youth Camp
There will be a fall youth camp on November 25, 2011held at the Kensington Community Gardens Rink. This camp is open for all skaters that are in Stage 6 , Stage 7 and Junior skater who have not passed their Jr Bronze Freeskate by Sept 1, 2011. Cost is $25.00, please ask Bonnie or Cindy for more details or contact Joyce Arsenault for application form.

Many hands make light work
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents who volunteered their time this year. In the last few years it has been getting harder to find parents who want to volunteer an hour a week playing music during their skater’s ice time, helping with costumes for ice show or work the booth during competitions. To those who have help out this year and in the past I would like to say thank you for your help. Without these volunteers our club would not run as smoothly as it does, please consider offering to sit on our board as an executive next year or chairing one of our many committees next year. Please contact Joyce Arsenault or any executive member or coaches if you are interested in volunteering a few hours.
Skating Receipts
Please put your skating receipts in a safe place, if we have to issue a duplicate receipt for your child fitness credit there will be a $10.00 charge.

Ice Show
Ice show DVD's will be on sale in the music room Wednesday night, all DVD's have to be paid for by ice show night as the money goes directly to SandPiper Studios. Sign up sheet is on the bulletin board in the music room with envelop for payments. We have almost reached our quota of preselling 20 DVD, if you want a special memory of the ice show don't forget to sign up as we do not print extra copies. Also, ice show tickets are for sale in the music room during dress rehearsal. Tickets are $5.00 each, preschooler need a ticket but there is no cost for them. We will be selling tickets at the door ice show night but to avoid waiting in line with your skater we recommend picking up your tickets in advance.

Ice time are from 4:30-5:15 for stage 1-6 and from 5:15-7:15 for Stage 7-Senior skaters. Please contact Bonnie Woodside at 836-5384 or Cindy Stavert at 836-3078. Dates for Summer and fall skating schools are not available at this time but if you are interested please give your name to one of the skaters so that you can be contacted.

Many hands make light work
In order for KAFSC to operate, we rely completely on volunteers. We have a few events that will be here soon and we need some volunteers to achieve success such as ADL Competition February 26/11 and Ice Show is March 18/11. We will need room monitors for each group, someone to operate the spot light, set up in the morning and set removal once the ice show is completed. If you know in advance that your skater is not going to be able to attend due to vacation or another commitment, please let one of the coaches know in advance. Please contact Joyce Arsenault or any executive member or coaches if you are interested in volunteering a few hours.

ADL Competition

We will be looking for some parents to help out with our fundraising table at our ADL competition on Saturday, February 26/11. Our fundraising table will be selling teddy bears, flowers, bubble gum draw and new this year healthy snacks. Anyone who would like to donate some prizes for our bubble gum draw can leave these donations in the music room during ice times.

On the Edge
On the Edge will be closed from February 16th to February 28th, 2011 as Leigh and Michelle will be away on a much deserved vacation. There will be someone sharping skates at ADL competition.

Ice Show
Our year end ice show is coming very quickly, we will need a parent to stay in the room with each stage. Please send me an email if you can stay in the room with you child's stage. If we do not get any volunteers we will request that all parents stay in the room with their children. It is important that your skaters are in the scheduled room so that they do not miss their number. The coaches and senior skaters will be busy that night and will be unable to supervise your children while you watch the ice show.

Our fundraising table will be selling teddy bears, flowers, bubble gum draw and new this year healthy snacks. Anyone who would like to donate some prizes for our bubble gum draw can leave these donations in the music room during ice times.

Good Luck
We have two skaters who will be competing at Skate Dartmouth this year. Lindsay Ramsay and Avery Arsenault will be competing on Sunday, January 30th in Dartmouth. KAFSC wishes both these skaters good luck.

Congratulations
We also had some KAFSC skaters who competed with the Evangeline Figure Skating Club Synchro teams. Avery Arsenault competed with the Ice Crystal synchro team and Taylor Kerwin, Rachael Noonan and Megan Paynter competed with Feet of Flames. We want to congratulate these girls on there recent competition at the Friendship Synchro Competition as both teams won 1st place. Congratulations girls on a job well done. And good luck in you next competition at ADL and StarSkate.

Grocery Packing
We packed groceries on January 15th at the Summerside Superstore from 9am-6pm. I would like to thank all the skaters and parents on a job well done. We raised $1,124.60 that day and this will go towards our operating cost and our upcoming events.

Disco Skate
There will be another disco skate on February 19, 2011 from 6:20-8:30pm at Community Gardens. The cost is $5.00 per person or $10.00 per family. There will be a 50/50 draw and free hot chocolate, coffee and Timbits. All proceeds will be for the KARA rink fund.

On the Edge
On the Edge will be closed from February 16th to February 28th, 2011 as Leigh and Michelle will be away on a much deserved vacation. There will be someone sharping skates at ADL competition.

Adult Skating

Adult skating is held on Sunday mornings at 8:00-9:00 AM. Our first session of adult skating will be finishing on January 30/11.
We may have another session on February 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th, March 13th and our last session on March 20th.
The cost is $69.00 for skaters already registered with SkateCanada or $99.00 for new members.

January 3 Skating starts again

January 10 KAFSC Club Competition (No Skating for Kidskate, Stages 1 and 2.)

Our skating starts at 3:30 for the Senior, 4:30 the seniors exhibition skate and then at 5 pm our competition starts for the Juniors to stage 3 skaters.

January 12 Primary Intermediate Test Day Kensington

January 14 Achievement Day for Kidskate, Stages 1 & 2 from 5:30 -6:00. We are having pajama day and parents are invited to join their skaters on the ice and try some of the skating skills they have learned so far.

Congratulations

A big congratulations goes out to one of our senior skaters Zoe Pocock who has received her Gold pin for the achievement of passing her Gold Skills. We are very proud of you Zoe!

Kensington Figure Skating Club Competition
Our club competition registration forms are being passed out to our skaters from stage 3 to preliminary
juniors. Parents need to sign these forms and give them back to the coaches or Melanie Stavert by Monday, December 6, 2010. The cost for club competition is $7.00 per skater. This is a fun event for the skaters, they get the ice to themselves for a few minutes. The skaters who place 1st, 2nd and 3rd get to skate again at Interclub in February and the skaters who place 1st and 2nd can competition at ADL provincial competition.


Fundraiser Draw
We will be having our fundraiser draw on Monday, December 13th during our stage 2 thru stage 6 ice time. Please put your tickets in the brown box in the music room no later than Monday, December 6th. The draw will be done on ice and the winners will be announced.


Kensington parade
The Kensington Parade is on Sunday, December 5th, we are sharing a float with MADD and all skaters and parents are invited to join our float. The young skaters can ride on the float and the older skater and parents can walk along in support of our skating club. All interested skater and parents can meet up with the float at the rink before 4:45pm as the parade starts at 5pm.
