Lauren Chambers Breaks Indoor records across the Southeast!
"By DAMIAN FOLEY Defending girls shot put champion Lauren Chambers of Throw1deep put everything into her first-round heave at the LSU High School Indoor Classic on Friday night. The result was a meet record of 45-feet, 2 inches (45-2), just inches shy of the overall LSU Field House record set in 1992 by Booker T. Washington thrower and eventual two-time NCAA champion Janet Hill. Fortunately for Chambers — and unfortunately for Hill — you get more than one attempt in field events, and as a result Hill no longer claims sole possession of first place. Chambers’ second effort went 45-5, tying Hill’s Field House record and breaking her own meet record, giving her the title for the second straight year while getting the Classic off to a flying start." In addition to LSU, Lauren traveled to Eastern Tennessee State where she took the title and the record in the shot put there, then traveled to Clemson University where she threw the 20 lb weight to a new High School facility record, Georgia State HS record and the # 4 throw All-Time of 58' - 8". All fundraising proceeds go directly back into the track program to enhance the facilities and continually provide the best equipment for the track athletes. At Kell High School, we are fortunate to have the only dedicated track facility in the county which enables us to provide an extensive program to our track athletes. We will have two fundraisers this season.
Each athlete will be asked to sell 10 cards each at $10 per card. 2) All Athlete Carwash (Big 10 Tires and Chik-fil-A) The Car Wash will be pre-sold by the athletes. All athletes are asked to sell 10 tickets at $10 each for the car wash. All athletes who sell 10 tickets and raise at least $100 will have their name put in a hat for a drawing of their choice of a PSP or new Video IPOD. This was out best fundraiser last season.
