Bat Rules
Nations Baseball Rules (Open League Games and Tournaments) -- The following bat rule is in effect at all Nations Events in the Houston/South Texas area.
1. In ages 14U and below, bats with the new BPF 1.15 stamp (on the transition area between the barrel and handle) are legal, regardless of weight and composition.
2. In 14U, bats must either be a BPF 1.15 -5 bat OR a BBCOR bat (BESR -3 bats are not legal).
3. 15U and above must use a NFHS (high school) legal BBCOR bat.
Penalty (Nations Rules) – The bat will be removed from the playing field by the umpire and the manager of the team will be warned against further use. If the illegal bat is discovered after the end of the play, and the play results in the batter/runner safely reaching first base, the batter/runner will be declared out and all runners must return to the last base legally occupied prior to the play. No run may score on this play. Any out that results on the play will stand. On a second offense, the above penalties will apply and the manager of the offending team will be removed from the field and will be prohibited from managing for the remainder of the game. A batter using an altered bat is declared out, and all runners return to the base occupied at the time of the pitch. A batter is deemed to have used or attempted to use an illegal bat if the player brings such a bat into the batter’s box. Any out or outs made during the play stand.

Field Usage - Open League Sanctioned Teams
Katy PONY's fields are managed and maintained by employees and volunteers of Katy PONY. No one is allowed to utilize a field without verbal or written permission from the Division Director of that field. Participation in Open League games does not entitle teams to use the fields or facilities for practices.
The following is a list of Open League Division Directors responsible for managing the schedule of events. If your team is a sanctioned member of Katy PONY's Open League, please contact the following individuals to schedule field time and they in turn will contact the Facility Director. Each field is generally limited to two sanctioned teams, who pay additional fees and take on additional responsibilities to support the league.
Field #1, #2 - Chris Ankrum
Field #3, #4 - Dane Haveman
Field #5, #7 - Jason Bastubee
Check this website or the rain out number before heading up to fields for possible closures due to maintenance and/or wet conditions.
The fields and batting cages are reserved for Open League sanctioned teams on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays (after 5 pm) and Sundays. Regular League teams have the fields and cages reserved on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (up to 4 pm). The cages are first come, first served for these teams. If you come to use the cages and a regular league team is using them remind them of this policy and politely ask them to leave. Also limit the usage to a maximum of one hour and use one cage unless no one else is waiting to use them.
If no other teams are waiting -- "Hit Away" and "Pitch" as long as you like!
Practice Etiquette
-- If another team is waiting, leave the field a few minutes before your time expires
-- Use the batting cages either before or after your scheduled field time … not during
-- Conduct after-practice meetings off the field
-- Let others use the bullpens if you're not using them
-- Leave the field in good condition ... clean dugouts of all trash and close the gates
-- Inform your field coordinator at least 48 hours in advance if you're not going to use one of your practice time slots
-- If you schedule a scrimmage with an outside team, make sure they bring a copy of their team insurance form
-- Report any damage to the Facility Director
