Kamiak faced Edmonds-Woodway in the first round of the District Playoffs. These two teams met twice before in league play with the Knights getting the win in both matches.
Kamiak came out very strong with good posession and some great shots off the crossbar and on frame. Unfortunately, the Knights were unable to find the net and get a goal. The Warriors were awarded a corner kick and were able to capitalize on that opportunity to take the lead 1-0. Kamiak answered back with, again, a goal on a corner to tie it up 1-1. The tension was mounting! Edmonds-Woodway took the lead 2-1 with minutes remaining in the game. It was not looking good for the Knights. But, Kamiak refused to go down without a fight and tied the score 2-2 with less than a minute remaining in the game!! The crowd went wild!
Two overtime periods of 5 minutes each were played and still the score was tied. Penalty kicks would decide this match. Lady Luck was not on the side of the Lady Knights this evening. The first three Kamiak kicks missed and Edmonds-Woodway won the match. Congratulations to the Warriors on the win!

Thursday, November 6 KAMIAK GIRL'S SOCCER ADVANCES TO STATE!! Congratulations Lady Knights!!! Kamiak held the mighty first place Wesco North Lake Steven's to a 0-0 tie at Lake Steven's High School. Tana Foster was busy in the cage, but kept her cool and made some beautiful saves. The defense played the very physical Vikings aggressiveley. Our offense had some oppurtunities to score but could not find the net. The match went to overtime, but still no score. The game would be decided, once again for Kamiak, by penalty kicks! The Knights were prepared. The past two seasons the Knights lost in the playoff's in PK's. Coach Beth Stewart was determined that history not be repeated this year. All four of our first kicks went into the net and Lake Steven's missed two!!! Kamaik WINS and advances to the District 1 Championship game!! |
