Sunday, February 12
Long Road Trip Pays Off
The Eagles headed north to face Benzie Central once again this season and the long drive produced a win!  There was no scoring in the first period and the Eagles were only able to rattle off 3 shots.  Power plays were everywhere in the second period.  Benzie scored the first goal of the contest short-handed.  The Eagles tied the game with a power play goal by Austin Staltmanis who shot from the slot on a pass from Corey Siwula.  With 9:59 remaining, Ben Hoard was able to shoot through a crowd in front of the net for the go ahead goal putting the Eagles up 2-1. Benzie was able to capitalize for their second short-handed goal of the night and evened the game up at 2-2 to complete the second period.  In the third period, Hoard scored on a shot from the top of the circle for his second goal of the night.  All Eagles goals were scored on the power play and all Benzie goals wee scored short-handed.  Final score was 3-2 with Ben Williams facing a total of 18 shots.

Huge Shut-out League Win Against Portage Northern
King Shuts Out The Huskies.
King Shuts Out The Huskies.
It would be fair to say no one would have predicted this outcome!  The Eagles came ready to play and shut out the Portage Northern Huskies 7-0 during the last league game of the regular season.  It all began just 3 minutes into the game when Corey Siwula ripped off a one-timer that rebounded off the Huskies goalie where Austin Staltmanis was waiting to bury it in the net.  Cody Lisowski tallied the second goal on a deflection from a shot at the point by Rodney Leversee.  With 1:46 to go in the first, Carson Miller skated into the slot and scored five-hole with the assist going to Trevor Wason.  To make it 4-0, Staltmanis scored his second of the night on an unassisted goal with just 7 seconds left in the first period.  Scoring continued in the second period with Brandon Richardson scoring on a headman pass by Lisowski.  Goal six was a snipe show at its best with Lisowski taking the puck top shelf right off the faceoff.  Period number three began with the score 6-0 but that wasn't quite enough for this Eagles team!  Lisowski sealed the hat-trick taking a long pass from Staltmanis, skating around the Huskies defenseman, and collecting the short-handed goal.  Dalton King was outstanding on the night and chalked up the shut out.

Ummmmm....Yep ~ Nothing Like Overtime.
No one has gotten as many extra periods out of a season than this Eagles squad! The game against Kalamazoo United was the fourth game to go into overtime in the last five games played.  As the first period was winding down, Carson Miller scored the first goal of the night by taking the puck into the zone and shooting high.  Half way through the second period KU tied the score at one a piece.  With 1:48 remaining in the second Corey Siwula poked the puck past a Kalamazoo United defenseman on the left side and caught the goalie guessing.  The go ahead goal was assisted by Chase McPherson and Austin Staltmanis.  Shortly into the third period KU scored to tie the game 2-2.  In overtime neither team was able to capitalize on the three shots each team took so the final was a tie.  Wednesday will see the Eagles in action against Portage Northern for the last regularly scheduled league game of the season.  Come on out to the rink!

Saturday, February 4
Well, Folks ~ We have OT once again!
If nothing else the Eagles are getting in their share of extra periods this year!  Just 3 minutes into the game Chase McPherson opened the scoring on a backhand shot that dribbled by the PC goalie.  The assist went to Austin Staltmanis.  Before the first period ended, Portage Central was able to even the score at 6:18 and then jump into the lead at 4:24 remaining.  Carson Miller evened the score at 2-2 on a rush around the PC defensemen and punched it through five-hole with an assist to Alex Wolf.  With the Eagles on the power play Cody Lisowski scored from the crease after a pass from Staltmanis.  The third period began with the Eagles on top 3-2 yet ended with a tie at 3-3 after Portage Central scored while short-handed at 7:12 remaining.  Once agian the Eagles squad was headed to overtime!  Though the Eagles outshot the Mustangs 5 to 3, no goals were scored giving the Eagles their second tie of the season.  Dalton King faced a total of 26 shots in the game.

Eagles Drop Game 2 at the SW Michigan Showcase Tournament
Though the Eagles scored first in this contest, the 'W' did not fall our way.  Austin Staltmanis opened things up by intercepting a pass from an opposing Midland Dow player and was able to take the puck in and score an unassisted goal.  With just two and a half minutes to go in the first period, Midland Dow returned the favor and evened the game at 1-1. Half way through the 2nd, Midland Dow went up 2-1 but not for long as Brandon Richardson scored the rebound on a shot from Corey Siwula from the point.  Midland Dow was able to answer back once again punching in a goal with less than two minutes left in the second period.  In the third, and up 4-2, the Midland goalie let in a slapshot by Siwula making it only a single goal lead.  Assists were credited to Alex Wolf and Trevor Wason.  The deal was sealed with 5 minutes remaining when Midland Dow connected for goal number 5.  Ben Williams faced 22 shots in net.  Eagles will be back in action this Wednesday, February 1st at 7:30 against Portage Central.  Come on out and cheer your Eagles to a league victory!

Another OT Win!
The goal scoring was slow to begin for the Manistee and Eagles match up but kicked in when it mattered most.  The first period ended with the Eagles firing off 8 shots while Manistee only connected on two but no scoring for either team.  Early in the second Carson Miller took a back-handed shot over the goalie's right shoulder for an unassisted goal.  With the Eagles leading 1-0, Manistee answered back with 5:18 to go in the third period forcing an overtime period.  A little more than half way into overtime, Trevor Wason scored on a rebound from Cody Lisowski's shot.  Wason was able to capitalize on the stranded Manistee goalie who had left the right side of the crease open for the winning goal to sneak in.  This was the first game of two in the Annual SW Michigan Showcase event Hockey Fights Cancer.

OT Win Keeps The Rival Cup At Home
This was the game that Eagles fans have been waiting for!  It has been a number of weeks since most all team members have been healthy and ready to go. The possibility of retaining the Rival Cup was just the motivation the guys needed to pull of a nail-biter of a game.  First period ~ NO scoring.  Second period ~ NO scoring.  Third period ~ NO scoring!!!!!  Though the Eagles outshot the Blades 30-14 that puck just would not squeak through so to overtime we went! With only 55 seconds left in OT Austin Staltmanis scored over the shoulder of the Blades goalie and into the upper right corner.  Assist want to Carson Miller.  The bench was cleared and the Eagles piled up! This makes three years running that the Eagles have won the Rival Cup.  Way to work as a team and get it done!

Eagles Fall To KU
What started out as a slow moving game turned out to be a disappointing loss for the Eagles squad.  The first period of the game saw no scoring by either team and shots dead even at 6 a piece.  About three minutes into the second period Cody Lisowski took a shot at the Kalamazoo United goalie and the rebound was punched in by Brandon Richardson on a goal-mouth scramble.  United only waited 30 seconds to tie the game back up at one a piece delivering a power play goal. The third period belonged to KU as they scored a short-handed goal with 6:12 remaining and an empty-netter at 47 seconds left to go.  Final score was 3-1

Wildcats Came Ready To Play
The Mattawan Wildcats were clearly not looking for another close match-up against the Eagles this time around.  The Wildcats opened the scoring for the night just 3 minutes in to the game.  With only 42 seconds remaining in the first period, Austin Staltmanis evened the score on a high shot over the goalie's shoulder.  The assist was credited to Alex Wolf.  The rest of the night belonged to Mattawan who scored another three times in the second period and twice more in the third.  Final score was 6-1 with both Ben Williams and Dalton King splitting time in net for the Eagles.  Let's help the Eagles get back on a winning track next week when they face the Kalamazoo United!!!  January 18th will be BLACK OUT WEDNESDAY!!! Come support the Eagles!

Tough Loss in OT
The Eagles took the ice against Portage Northern ready for battle on Wednesday night.  Just one minute into the game, Brandon Richardson took the puck in from the top left face off circle and scored on the Husky's goalie.  Assists went to Carson Miller and Ben Hoard.  Then with 3:56 remaining in the first period, Austin Staltmanis capitalized on a short-handed goal from the center of the right face off circle.  The Eagles 2-0 lead slipped away as Portage Northern scored two goals in the second period with 11:41 and 11:12 to go.  No scoring in the third period brought on overtime.  Sadly, Northern scored just 3 minutes into OT for the win.  Eagles are back in action on Saturday against Kalamazoo United at 7:30.

Sunday, January 8
All Tied Up
The Kalamazoo Eagles hosted the Holt Rams in a back and forth match-up.   Nick Weirick opened the scoring on the power play on a pass from Brandon Richardson from the left side of net to the slot.  Half way into the first, Richarson again dished off a pass to Carson Miller who scored to put the Eagles up 2-0. Five minutes later Holt scored on the power play ending the first period with a 2-1 score to the Eagle's advantage. With 11:13 to go in the second, Holt evened the score.  Next, Paul McPherson centered a pass from behind the net to Austin Staltmanis who put the puck away to regain the lead. The Rams were able to even the score once again on a short-handed goal ending the second with a tie score. With 6:10 to go and on the power play, Nick Swain was able to bury the puck despite being leveled right after getting the shot off. Just 1:40 later Holt tied up the game once again forcing OT. During the overtime period the Eagles were able to pelt the Holt goalie with 5 shots but none got by him.  This was the first tie of the season for the Kalamazoo Eagles.

Goals Abound
Weirick Takes A Hit
Weirick Takes A Hit

The Eagles match-up against Benzie Central saw a 12 goal game with 10 of them chalked up for the Eagles team.  The scoring began with a shot by Rodney Leversee and a tip by Nick Swain to tally the first goal.  Half-way through the first Paul McPherson was able to bury the puck after receiving a pass from Carson Miller.  Eagles made it 3-0 when Chase McPherson dished off a pass to Austin Staltmanis who took it the length of the ice with only a minute left.  As the seconds ticked away the Eagle players put together a beautiful play with Kevin Andrysiak shoveling a pass off to Trevor Wason who moved it along to Carson Miller who deked the Benzie goalie to the right side.  With a 4-0 lead to begin the second period the Eagles came out rather sluggish and Benzie scored 2 goals in the first 45 seconds of the period.  The Eagles got right back down to business and didn't allow another goal for the remainder of the game. Miller scored the next 2 goals giving him a hat-trick for the game.  To begin the third period the Eagles lead had stretched to 6-2.  Staltmanis scored goal #7 giving him 2 for the game.  Goal #8 was punched in by Brandon Richardson on a pass from Trevor Wason.  With only 1:51 left in the game and with Eagles on the power play Paul McPherson scored from a strange angle from the left of the net.  The mercy goal was tallied by Richardson from the right faceoff dot to the top shelf over the goalie's shoulder.  The Kalamazoo Eagles will be right back in action tomorrow against the Holt Rams at 5:30 in the Annex!

Mustangs and Eagles Meet Up
The first period of the Portage Central vs. Kalamazoo Eagles match up was rather uneventful.  No scoring from either team occured while shots on goal were just 4 by the Eagles and 9 by the Mustangs.  The first goal to be recorded came from a laser of a shot by Cody Lisowski which was tipped by Austin Staltmanis making it a 1-0 game.  The second period ended with this score and as the third period was winding down it looked as if this would be the final.  Sadly, the Mustangs dug deep for three quick goals at 5:49, 3:57 on the power play, and an empty netter with one minute remaining.  The Eagles suffered their second league loss with a 3-1 score.

Petoskey Tournament Brings A Split

After a long drive up north the Kalamazoo Eagles came ready to play.  The first game of the tournament slated the Eagles against the Capitol Area Patriots.  Just two and a half minutes into the contest Corey Siwula buried a rebound off of a shot by Clayton Ankney for what proved to be the game winning goal.  This was just the beginning of the goal scoring for the Eagles.  Two minutes later Brandon Richarson fed Cody Lisowski in the slot for goal number two. Austin Staltmanis scored goal number 3 with just 55 seconds remaining in the first on another assist from Richardson.  This ended the first period 3-0 in favor of the Eagles.  Early in the second, Ben Hoard rushed the net and launched a shot over the right shoulder of the Patriot's goalie.  Assist went to Nick Weirick.  One last goal of the game came from Lisowski in the third period on Richardson's third assist of the game.  Ben Williams was in net for the Eagles and racked up the 5-0 shut out win.

The championship game was set and the Eagles were hoping for a repeat of last year's tournament outcome.  This, however, was not meant to be. The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Brandon Richardson who scored on a rebound shot from Cody Lisowski.  Sadly, this was all the scoring the Eagles could muster.  The second period was penalty laiden which allowed the Walled Lake  Northern to capitalize on their power play.  They were able to tally three goals the first of which was a 5 on 3 advantage and the other two were 5 on 4.  Dalton King shut down the net for the remainder of the game.  No scoring for either team occurred in the third period leaving the Eagles with a 3-1 loss.  League play picks back up on Wednesday, December 21st against Portage Central.  Come on out and cheer the Eagles to victory!

Eagles and Wildcats Tangle
If hockey fans had only watched the first period in the Mattawan Wildcats versus Kalamazoo Eagles game, most would not have anticipated such a close outcome.  At the end of the first period, Mattawan had posted a 2-0 lead and the Eagles didn't appear to have much spunk.  Part way through the second period the momentum began to change.  Paul McPherson rifled off a shot at the Mattawan goaltender and Carson Miller was in perfect position to bury the rebound for the first Eagles goal.  Mattawan answered back with another goal at 6:36 remaining in the period to make it 3-1.  As the clock was dwindling down, Brandon Richardson passed the puck to Ben Hoard who was ready at the blue line.  He wound up for a slapshot which looked to be headed over the goal when Carson Miller connected with a perfect deflection as the puck whizzed past the stunned Mattawan goalie to make the score 3-2.  With less than two minutes left there was a very controversial Eagles rush where Eagles and Wildcat fans alike were rather sure a game tying goal was accomplished by Austin Staltmanis yet as fate would have it ~ the squad of officials waived it off.  A disappointing loss for the Eagles was the result.  As they say, "Let's get 'em next time."

League Play Opens Against The Rival ~ Kalamazoo Blades
In a game with 27 penalties, it might just come down to keeping your head and simply playing good hockey.  This was the case on Wednesday night.  The Eagles opened the scoring for the night on a pass from Ben Hoard to Brandon Richardson who was waiting at the Blades blue line.  Richardson delivered a cross-ice pass onto the tape of Austin Staltmanis who shot high into the glove corner for the first goal.  The Blades evened the score with just a few minutes left in the first.  The Blades went ahead 2-1 only two minutes into the second period.  Thankfully that lead only lasted a minute and a half as Cody Lisowski took a pass from Corey Siwula and put the puck over the right shoulder of the Blades goal tender.  With 3:02 to go, Lisowski answered the call once again with a 5-hole shot on an assist from Siwula.  To open the third period, the Blades scored making it all tied up once more.  With just 3:34 left to go in the game and on the power play, the Eagles showed a lot of determination to win.  Hoard passed to Siwula who fed the puck to Staltmanis for the game winning goal.  As the final minute ticked away, the Blades pulled their goalie and the Eagles took a penalty creating a 6 on 4 dilemma.  Dalton King was stellar in turning away all final shots and locked down the win for the Eagles.  Shots on goal for the game were dead even with 18 a piece for both the Blades and the Eagles.  Penalties abounded with 27 total in the game, 17 of which were assessed to the Blades.

Hard Fought Win in Holland
It isn't often that West Ottawa falls to a Kalamzaoo Eagles team but Saturday was the day we have been waiting for.  It wasn't looking good at the close of the first period as the West Ottawa club dominated the scoring.  They racked up the first goal on the powerplay at 11:48 and then followed up just one minute and fifteen seconds later with goal number two.  Facing a 2-0 deficit, the Eagles knew they had their work cut out for them.  Cody Lisowski answered the call by picking up the rebound on a shot from Ben Hoard that hit the crossbar and came back out.  The eagles evened the score in the second period on an unassisted goal by Austin Staltmanis from the red line.  With time ticking down, Brandon Richardson threaded a beautiful pass through the defensemen and right onto the tape of Cody Lisowski.  This created a breakaway goal that went five-hole for the game winner at 3:18 left.  Ben Williams was stellar in holding off any scoring as West Ottawa pulled their goalie to try and capture one last chance.  What a nail-biter!  The Kalamazoo Eagles open league play this coming Wednesday, December 7th against the Kalamazoo Blades.  See you at the rink!

Manistee Tournament Ends Up In A Split

Game 1 ~ Friday 11/25 versus Manistee

Manistee jumped out in front scoring the first goal of the contest just 1 minute and 14 seconds into the match-up.  Kevin Andrysiak evened the score with a goal off of a rebound in front of the Manistee net.  Assists went to Alex Wolf and Trevor Wason.  The second period was all Manistee offense as they scored 3 more.  Goals came at 6:20 on the powerplay and then at 1:27 and 1:08 left in the peroid.  The third period passed with no scoring from either team ending the match up with a 4-1 loss for the Eagles.

Game 2 ~ Saturday 11/26 versus Unity Knights

The Kalamazoo Eagles didn't come all that way for nothing!  Saturday this club was ready to play and ready to win.  A powerplay goal in the first period by Nick Weirick on a deflection from Chase McPherson's shot.  Second assist was credited to Clayton Ankney.  Austin Staltmanis racked up the second goal with an end to end rush.  The lone assist went to Alex Wolf making it 2-0.  Unity scored their first and only goal with only 16 seconds left in the first. The second period Eagles players lit the lamp four times.  On a drive to the net, Austin Staltmanis scored his second goal of the game by sneaking the puck under the Knight goalie's left pad.  Cody Lisowski had the assist.  Corey Siwula rifled off a slapshot from the blue line and right into the net for goal number four.  That pass came from Staltmanis.  Next Cody Lisowski slapped one in on an assist from Siwula.  The last goal of the period came from Nick Swain off of a deflection from Brandon Richardson's shot.  Second assist went to Drew McPherson.  The Eagles out shot the Knights 15-1 ending the second period.  The third period saw a short-handed goal by Staltmanis giving him a hat trick on the day. The final assist was given to Drew McPherson.  The contest ended with a score of 7-1.

Season Opening Match Up Turns Into A Barn-burner!
The opening game found the Kalamazoo Eagles in a high scoring match up against Jackson United.  Trevor Wason opened the scoring with a goal on a deflection from Chase McPherson's shot from the blue line.  Cody Lisowski picked up an unassisted goal on the power play with 3:05 remaining in the first.  Kevin Andrysiak scored the third goal of the contest off of a rebound left laying in the crease.  Assists went to Nick Weirick and Clayton Ankney.  Widening the scoring gap, Cody Lisowski came up with a breakaway goal making it a 4-0 difference.  Surprisingly, the Jackson squad came back with a vengence scoring the next 3 goals of the contest which were all on the power play.  Goals were at 11:11, 9:33, and 3:47.  With only 2:58 to go in the second, Austin Staltmanis dished up the perfect feed to Cody Lisowski who ripped a top shelf blast giving him a hat trick.  Once again on the power play, Jackson snuck one past goaltender Dalton King to make it 5-4.  On an assist from Alex Wolf, Austin Staltmanis scored what would be the game winner.  Jackson pulled their goalie and chipped in a shot with just 27 ticks remaining on the clock.  Strong defensive play held the Jackson team off and gave the Eagles a close 6-5 victory.  Next weekend, the Kalamazoo Eagles will journey to the Manistee Thanksgiving Tournament with games on November 25th & 26th.  Best of luck!

Commanding win over Portage Central shakes up the standings!
Well, the final league game of the season found the Eagles a convincing win over Portage Central.  Taylor Schott opened up the scoring with his goal on an assist from Ben Lamons.  This goal scored with 9:18 to go in the first period held up until only two seconds remained on the clock.  Portage Central was able to sneak in their first and only goal heading into the locker room with a 1-1 tie after on period of play.  The second period proved scoreless and the Eagles were out-shot 12 to 1.  The rest of the game was dominated by Portage Central penalties and Eagles power play scoring.  Zach Corliss got the game winning goal on an assist from Levi Leversee with 10:53 to go in the third.  Next from the slot, Corliss fed Carson Miller for goal number three at 6:46 to go. To seal the deal, Levi Leversee passed the puck up ahead to Corliss who directed an empty netter in for the convincing win. Tom Idzkowski batted away 29 shots to shut down any offense Portage Central could muster.  Join us back at the rink on Wednesday as the Eagles battle the Blades at 7:30.

Another close battle between the Eagles and Huskies
Almost the entire first period was in the books before either team got on the score board. With 27 seconds left in the first, Austin Staltmanis ripped a pass to Cody Lisowski who beat the Portage Northern defenseman one-on-one and blazed the puck into the back of the net.  The 1-0 advantage in the Eagles favor remained in effect all the way into the third period.  The Portage Northern Huskies went on a scoring spree in the third putting in three unanswered goals at 12:05, 4:46, and finally a power play goal with 0:36 left in the game.  With only a single second remaining on the clock, Ben Hoard slipped in one last goal for the Eagles making it a tough 3-2 loss.

Saturday, February 5
Second meeting with the Blades, second win.
For the second time in so many weeks, the Eagles come away with a victory against the Blades. After no scoring in the first period, Tyler Gallant didn't wait long to get on the board in the second.  Tyler stood his ground in front of the Blades goalie and took a beautiful pass from Taylor Schott to snipe the puck into the net with 12:05 left in the period.  It only took a minute and 20 seconds for the Blades to tie the game back up.  As the seconds ticked away in the period, Ben Hoard got a feed from Zach Corliss to score what turned out to be the game winner.  This put the Eagles up 2-1 with only 54 seconds left in the second and that was the last of the scoring for both teams.  Tom Idzkowski played through minor shoulder injury to help hang on to the win.  The Eagles worked as a solid team in the final two minutes of the game to prevent the Blades from being able to pull their goalie until the last seconds.  This important win puts the Eagles back at .500 in the  league and at 11-8 overall.

Eagles hang the goose egg on the golden ice for a shut out win!
Wings Stadium had a new look for Showcase game number 2 ~ McDonald's Golden Ice was ready for a stellar game and the Eagles didn't disappoint!  Posting a score of 7-0, the Eagles shut out Monroe-Jefferson and had goals scored by seven different players. To start things off, Carson Miller scored a power play goal on an assist from Ben Hoard with 10:13 remaining. Just over a minute later Tyler Gallant had a breakaway combined with a great move that fooled the Monroe defenseman and ultimately the goalie as well to put the Eagles up 2-0. The assist was credited to Taylor Schott. Goal number three in the first period went to Zach Corliss on assists from Carson Miller and Pete Hoeksema. With 2:59 left in the first period, Phil Maxey scored from the blue line on an assist from Austin Staltmanis. The action continued into the second period with three more goals all of which were scored on power plays. Just 51 seconds had ticked off the clock when Cody Lisowski scored goal number five with an assist from Corey Siwula. Four minutes later Cody Lisowski assisted Pat Gaudard as he scored goal six from the blue line. The final goal of the contest was scored by Ben Hoard from Carson Miller's face off with 5:26 to go. Tom Idzkowski stone-walled every single one of the 18 shots that were fired at him.  Way to 'drop your gloves and fight for a cure' during the 2011 Showcase Tournament!

Sunday, January 30
First game of the Showcase produces a late night win!
Cheboygan traveled a long way to the 2011 Showcase Tournament and put up a good battle upon their arrival. It was a scoreless game during both the first and second periods. Shots on goal were even up in the first and were more lopsided in the second showing Cheboygan at 15 and Eagles only at 9. The Eagles players came out in the third period ready to score on the power play as Pat Gaudard let a shot go from the blue line and Carson Miller was there to deflect it right past the Cheboygan goalie. Second assist went to Austin Staltmanis with 14:29 left in the game. Eight minutes later Corey Siwula connected with Cody Lisowski for goal number two giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.  With just 32 seconds left in the game, Cheboygan had pulled their goalie and were able to punch in a goal.  It proved to be less than enough and the Eagles hung on to the victory 2-1. Ben Williams played a fantastic defensive game in goal stopping 35 of 36 shots that came his way. Thanks to all the Eagles fans who braved the late night and the cold in the Cube!

Overtime loss is a tough one
The first meeting of the year between these two teams turned out to be a back and forth battle right down to the final goal.  Half way through the first period Austin Staltmanis fed a nice pass to Cody Lisowski to kick of the scoring in the game. Cody's goal put the Eagles up 1-0 with 8:01 to to in the period. This lead didn't last long as two and a half minutes later Portage Northern tied things right back up. Part way through the second period Northern capitalized on a power play to go up 2-1. The Eagles found themselves scoreless in period number two. Period three was winding down and then just inside the 2:00 minute mark, Tyler Gallant scored from the slot on an assist from Taylor Schott. Portage Northern put the Eagles on the power play but unfortunately were able to snag the puck and score the game winner with 4:37 left in overtime.  These teams will meet again on February 9th.

The coveted Rival Cup was brought to the rink tonight by the Eagles and brought right back home! Just as the first period was winding down, Zach Corliss scored the first goal of the night with assists credited to Cody Lisowski and Corey Siwula.  The one goal lead didn't last long into the second period as the Blades tied it up with 13:47 remaining. Just two minutes later, Brandon Richardson ripped a shot at the Blades goalie and Austin Staltmanis was there to bury the rebound putting the Eagles ahead again 2-1.  As the second period came to a close, Cody Lisowski scored an unassisted power play goal to widen the lead.  Eagles pressure was constant at this point in the game, outshooting the Blades 20-11.  Just one minute into the third, Pat Gaudard sent a puck from just outside the blue line that snuck under the pads of the Blades goalie. Rematch against Kalamazoo United is another one goal game

The second meeting between the Eagles and the Kalamazoo United hockey clubs proved to be another close match. It was halfway into the first period before a tally was on the board. The United team was able to punch in a short-handed goal with 7:10 left on the clock. Even though shots on goal were almost even, the Eagles faced a deficit of 1-0 at the end of the first. United came after the net once again scoring their second goal of the night on the power play with 12:13 remaining in the second. The two goal lead didn't last long as once the Eagles were back to full strength it only took 17 seconds to answer with a goal.  Cody Lisowski scored on a nice centering pass from the left circle courtesy of Mike Murphy having the second assist going to Austin Staltmanis. Tom Idzkowski exited the ice with limited time remaining in an effort to tie the game late in the third, but despite a few exciting opportunities to drop in the tying goal, the Eagles were unable to convert.
