The long winter has ended, the grass is turning green and our athletes are back on the baseball and softball fields. This is a great time of year! People always say that this is the best year ever and once again we think this is going to be the best year ever. We have some very good athletes in the sports program and we have some great future athletes just making the move into the next step of their sporting experience. We are sure that you have a special player in your life but don't limit your participation to thier games. There are many other games going on at the Kirkwood parks. We have Adult hardball, Varsity baseball, Little League, Softball, Coach pitch and if you really want to have fun catch a tee ball game.
Town Topics: As everyone is aware the economy is in hard times and that doesn't discriminate. The town of Kirkwood has made the announcement that they have to cut spending and one of the programs that will be affected is the Sports program. They want to cut the budget by 10%. The town has asked the Kirkwood booster club to help out. I do not see any reason that we can't except for parent participation. We are in desperate need of help. If you think you may want to become a member or just an active participant in the welfare of our great sports program and can spare just a little bit of time we would be greatly appreciative. Kirkwood Booster Club: We are in real need of some help. We aren't looking for you to spend all your time with this but any time is greatly appreciated. If you have any interest in helping out please call 775-1998, 765-7484 Or just talk to Rich DeGroat when you see him at the park. The booster club has purchased many items in the past such as pitching machines, pop out bases, trophies, and have sponsored trips to sporting events. I think with the people in the community we could have the greatest booster club ever and maybe reduce the towns’ sports budget by 25%. Wouldn’t that be a great way to thank the town for all they have given our children in the past?
