Formerly known as "Coach Vic's All-Stars and Take No Prisoners," K.Y.D.A. inc. was founded in the summer of 1992 by Coach Vic Hall. The concept of K.Y.D.A. inc. was to find young men who were idle during the summer months, train and enter them in basketball tournaments to keep them busy so they would not get into trouble. Coachvic used to go into different neighborhoods and find young men ages 15-18 that were interested in sports but not participating at the time. Talent did not matter to him. What did matter(and still does) is whether or not that youngster wanted to work hard and commit himself to K.Y.D.A. inc. All participants had to make every practice. This meant they could not just hang out on some corner. Coachvic's practices were so hard that no one wanted to hang out afterwards. Everyone was ready to go home, eat and sleep. This was part of his plan. Keep youngsters so busy with sports they did not have a chance to be idle. K.Y.D.A. inc. has since grown. We now service males and females ages 5-adulthood.
K.Y.D.A. inc. which stands for Keep Youth's Dreams Alive inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching males and females the values of working hard for their goals, respecting family values, overachieving in the classroom and respecting their fellow man through education and athletic activities. K.Y.D.A. inc. serves more than 100 children and young adults year-round. The organization motivates participants from all walks of life using athletics as a catalyst to help address their needs in areas of leadership, academic readiness, recreation and employment. Keep Youth's Dreams Alive inc. strives to give all youth some hope for a better tomorrow by teaching them to utilize what they learn from their athletic experiences as a model to help their overall academic, social, and career development. To date, our most successful events are Coachvic's Old Skool Skillz Basketball Academy and our annual Summer Basketball Academy.
