Shutterbug Alert! Kodak Moments Requested!

Webspace isn't cheap. It costs about $1 per Meg. However, those honking pictures that you take with your mega-pixel cameras can be downsized and still look good online, though you probably wouldn't want to download it for printing. I used Paint Shop Pro to FILE|EXPORT|Jpeg Optimize it after opening it, and trimmed it down to only 73KB. We have some limited space to post interesting shots of the teams or individuals at play, on and off-the-court. If you've captured a Kodak moment that you would like to share, please email it to KivaWebmasters@gmail.com. Todd Greenwell did and here it is!

14 Red Wins MEQ Open, 15 Red Places Second in Their Open Division
Only 12's, 14's, and 15's competed during Week 1 of the MidEast Qualifier in Indianapolis, but it was a very successful weekend for KiVA teams. Both Red teams in the 14 and 15 age group won Open bids for Junior Olympics in Minneapolis this summer. 12 Red only lost one match, unfortumately they lost it to the eventual Champion, the MAVS from Kansas City, in the quarterfinals giving them a fifth place finish in their only qualifier. The future of KiVA looks bright with this group continuing the tradition. Both 14 White and 15 White finished 9th in the Club competition. The picture shows 14 Black celebrating their Bronze bracket championship in 14 Club competition. Pictures of 14 Red and 15 Red anyone???? If so, please send them to KivaWebmasters@gmail.com.

14White Tastes March Madness
KIVA 14 White has had some success of late. The month of March began with a championship in the Bluegrass Pre-Q 14 open division.?We compiled a?6-1 record while competing?against some very talented teams in the field from around the east region. Then?in the Mid-East Qualifier in Indianapolis, we competed for one of two bids to JO Nationals in Minneapolis, amongst a field of 125 teams. We won our first pool on Friday, came in second on Saturday, and finished tied for 9th out of the field of 125. The team is playing great, the girls are having fun and sky is the limit!
With the success of late from the Bluegrass Pre-Qualifier and MEQ finish, KIVA 14 White took themselves to the next level. They won the 14 Club division at the Big South National Qualifier in Atlanta, GA. They started the qualifier seeded first out of 95 and finished first. They compiled a record of 10-0 in match play. The girls are playing great and everyone is having a blast with the team. Junior Olympics here we come!!

Reduce Club Cost By Carpooling
The cost of Club Volleyball increases with the price of gas. With that in mind, I would like to offer a way that can act as a clearinghouse of sorts to match potential carpoolers to tournaments, qualifiers, and nationals. I'll add an option to our menu called KiVA Karpool and let it run for the rest of the year to see how well-received it is. Send information about your needs (including what day, what time you can leave, how many, etc) to KivaWebmasters@gmail.com and each day I'll post them to KiVA Karpool.

What do Darrell Griffith, Wesley Unseld, Rodney McCray, and Ron Kordes have in common?
If you said that they all played basketball at the University of Louisville, you'd be correct but that is not the answer I'm looking for.
So how about Bear Bryant, Adolph Rupp, Denny Crum, and Ron Kordes?
If you said that they're all great coaches in Kentucky, you'd be correct but that is not the answer I'm looking for either.
How about Butch Beard, Frank Beard, Ralph Beard, and Ron Kordes?
Trick question, but still a hint, just like Wesley Cox, Earl Cox, and Johnny Cox.
How about George Blanda, Johnny Unitas, and Paul Hornung? Or Eddie Arcaro, Don Brumfield, and Pat Day?
Ok, these hints will probably give it away; Muhammad Ali, Secretariat, and Ron Kordes.
Give up?
These are all members of the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame. Or at least will be, since Ron and Secretariat are being inducted on Wednesday, May 2. I'm sure there's a good punchline there somewhere, but I'm not touching it.
Tickets are $75 per person, and are available by calling Jo Barrett at Kosair Charities in Louisville: (502) 637-7696 (ext. 104). The Hall of Fame benefits Kosair Kids by contributing the induction banquet proceeds and donations to Kosair Charities. Cocktails begin at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7:30 and the program at 8 p.m. A form is attached below if you would like to attend. It has a deadline of April 18th.
The Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame board member is indebted to The Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center board for its support of this KAHF endeavor on behalf of Kosair Charities. We also are grateful to the Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Companies for its longtime corporate sponsorship and for providing these plaques for display in one of Kentuckys premier sports facilities.
The Walls of Fame exhibit is free and open to the public during any sports activity or general event at Freedom Hall. While the area housing the Walls of Fame is often accessible at other times, you may wish to call Freedom Hall in advance about the hours the area is open and available.
