2010 KC Sharks...And so it begins....

While spring started it's opening with snow, it has postponed the beginning of many of our players high school seasons, it is the thought of spring that has brought KC Sharks Baseball 2010 to our minds!  Several of the boys have had their first games already cancelled and rescheduled.  We hope they are all able to start playing soon as I think most of us have baseball fever!!

A coach's meeting was held last night at our house and several things were discussed.

Tournaments:  We have dates that we are looking to play, though we may remain undecided as to exactly which tournament we will attend on a weekend.  We are considering a few college showcase tournaments...Fayetteville, Arkansas, Fort Scott, Kansas are two of the ones being considered.  It is undecided if we will play in the state tournament this year.  As of right now, it is showing as being in Nevada.  Before any commitment is made to play in the tournament, we will have to see who is in it.  We don't see the logic in driving there to play KC area teams that we may have spent all season playing already.

Roster:  It looks like a good season lies ahead for the Sharks.  As of last night's meeting, we had a list of 14 possible players for the spring and today we found out about 2 more possible players.  This most likely means a tryout situation except for a few who have already been guaranteed a position on the team.

Other things discussed last night included equipment and uniform replacement needs, having hotel reservations all made prior to the season.  The hotels are definitely a priority of mine!  We can almost always cancel with 24 hours notice and if we get booked early, we can probably get the best rates and the best locations.  If we do the Fayetteville  College Showcase, we will probably incorporate an extra day or so in there to take a canoe trip for those that would want to.  More specifics will come on that later.
