HIDDEN VALLEY 10/2002
THE PRIDE WENT 1-2 IN THE HIDDEN VALLEY AFA TOURNAMENT. THE COLD, WET WEATHER ALONG WITH SCHEDULING CHANGES SEEMED TO AFFECT THE PRIDE'S SOFTBALL FOCUS IN TWO LOSSES BY ONE RUN. THE COACHES WERE PROUD OF THE WAY THE GIRLS HELD TOGETHER DURING THE LAST GAME TO PICK UP A WIN. WE HAD THE CONFIDENCE GOING INTO BRACKET PLAY ON SUNDAY, BUT, UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS WASHED OUT BY THE RAIN.
WE NOW ALL KNOW WHAT WE NEED TO WORK ON OVER THE WINTER MONTHS. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT BUT LEAST LIKED IS BUNTING. THE GIRLS HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF GETTING THE BUNT DOWN TO MOVE RUNNERS INTO SCORING POSITION. BUNTING IS FOR THE TEAM. THE TEAM HAS TO DO THE SIMPLE FUNDAMENTALS TO BE SUCCESSFUL. WE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE WE WILL PLAY THE GAME FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND.

The Pride Help Celebrate Lindsay's Birthday!
This weekend's tournament action took the Pride to OGSA for a "just for fun tournament". In the first two games the Pride came out wielding some hot bats and scored the maximum of 5 runs in each of the first two innings. They went on to win each of those contests. The third game matched the Pride with the veteran Extreme. The Extreme struck first only to be answered by the Pride. After some mishaps on the base paths and a disintegrating strike zone the Extreme went on to defeat the Pride.

The Pride also celebrated a birthday this weekend. Happy Birthday "Lewis"!!!!!! The birthday girl also came to the park ready to play ball. Lindsay threw out two at third while turning in one of her best performances at the plate of the season. Way to go Lewis!!!

Pride Allows Only Three Runs All Weekend!
The Pride found themselves in the tournament finale for the 3rd consecutive weekend. The championship game matched the Pride against their arch rival, the Rockets. While both teams struggled at the plate the Rockets took advantage of two lead off walks, each eventually coming around to score on a pass ball and a wild pitch. Final score: Rockets 2 Pride 0. The entire coaching staff is proud of the effort put forth by the girls this past weekend. There were some real defensive highlights and the bats stayed hot for all but the final game. Great work girls!!!!

Pride Plays Great, Runs Out of Gas Late
The Pride had a great tournament this weekend at the Adair Complex in Lees Summit, MO. The Pride won four straight games before losing to the Rockets in the final bracket game 4-3. The Pride came back and sent the Kearney Lookouts packing, that set the stage for a battle and another shot at the Rockets in the championship game.

The Pride beat the Rockets 4-3 in the first championship game before running out of gas in the final tilt. The Rockets squeaked out a 5-3 battle to claim the title. The coaches are very proud of the Pride players and the effort they showed this early in the 2000 season. The bats are really coming to life!
Beware of the PRIDE!

OUTDOOR PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Outdoor practices, weather permitting, will begin March 2, 2000. Practices will be at the OGSA Complex on Thursday nights at 7:00 on field 3, and Sunday afternoons at 6:00 on field 3.

We look forward to getting outdoors and putting the pieces to the puzzle for real.

1999 Season Ends With Flare
The Pride ended their 1999 season with a bang at the Halloween Classic held at Adair Park this weekend. Even though the Pride lost the championship game to the pesky Rockets 5-3, the weekend was very special.

The Pride went 3-0 in pool play by beating the Krunch 9-1, Jaquars 11-0, and Head of the Pack 5-3 in overtime. The elimination round saw the Pride beat the Heat 11-2, and the Head of the Pack 6-4. This set the table for a battle with the Rockets for the Championship.

The Pride fought hard all weekend, and the bats were very lively. Defensively the Pride held strong all weekend while still playing the girls in a number of different positions.

This is a very special group of girls and we all look for some very special things to come in 2000.

Have a great break and we will see you on December 11 for the first annual Cosmic Bowling/All night bash.

A special thank you to all the parents for being supportive, the girls could not have done it without you. Thanks again!

Cold Weekend Comes to End
The weather held out, and the promise of play was never questioned. The Pride finished second to the Olathe Rockets in the Flames Classic held at OGSA this weekend. The record for the Pride was 3-2 loosing both times to the Rockets.

The girls battled not only the cold temperatures, but battled bravely on the field. All the Pride girls had moments of greatness but just could not seam to put it all together against the heavily recruited players of the Rockets. There will be more opportunities to play them and all the Pride is looking forward to that opportunity.

The Pride would like to thank Tressa Wasson for playing her heart out all weekend long. The Pride would also like to extend get well soon requests to Sierra Scott,(finger)Sara Gast, (broken finger) and Tressa (thumb). Their absence was felt by the pride.

Strong showing of things to come!
The Pride showed mid season form this weekend at the Lasers Classic Tourny. The first day saw the Pride go 2-1. The day was highlighted by strong pitching performances from Megan Ramsey, Taleisha Thomas, and Rayme Nead. The Pride all took their shots at the plate and hit the ball very well. It took a career performance from the Stealth to slow the Pride in day one. The defense was strong and looks to be the foundation the Pride will rely on all year.

Day two saw the Pride get off to a strong start by walooping the Stealth to advance to the Championship game against the Cyclones. The older Cyclones showed poise in finally defeating the Pride 5-4 in 3 extra innings of play. The Pride showed tremendous heart and courage in the defeat and viewed it as a building block for the upcoming season. "The ball just didn't seam to roll the way of the Pride" in the extra innings.

A job well done. Everyone looked very strong in the 5 game stretch over the weekend.
