Grega Takes Second Straight Super Late Model Victory at Auto City Speedway
CLIO, Mich. -- John Grega proved once again why he is one of the best in the business, taking his second straight Super Late Model victory on Saturday, July 29th at Auto City Speedway. The night also featured the Michigan Nationals for the Auto Value Legends Series, along with other exciting action.

Grega started off his night setting fast for the Supers with a 14.78. Twenty cars took the green flag in the 60-lap feature, with veteran Steve Sauve taking the early lead. Dr. Bob Ducharme stayed on Sauve's tail until he spun out on lap 27. Grega worked his way forward from his 6th starting position with Johnny Belott right behind. Grega used the high side of the track and on lap 41 passed Sauve to take the lead. Grega cruised the rest of the way for the win, followed by Belott, Todd Rosebrugh, Sauve and Claude Plante, Jr.

Grega Finishes Second in North Vs South Shootout at Owosso!
Ovid Mi- The Main Event outlaw super late model stars from Ohio invaded Owosso Speedway and thrilled the racing enthusiasts that packed the stands for the 100-lap North Vs South shootout. Ten of the top eleven drivers in the series made the trek to the 3/8ths mile high-banked oval to square off with some of Michigan’s best super late model talent. Twenty-five drivers qualified and started the feature event that paid $2500 to win. The threat of a sudden rainstorm cut driver introductions short as track officials hurried to get the race underway. The race was delayed three times and the racers were stopped with a red flag twice as a light rain fell. Owosso point’s leader Jon McNett took the lead from Tim Ice on lap #1 and paced the race for the first 44 times around the circuit. The Iceman ran a close second on the bottom side of the track while Claude Plante Jr, Norm Davis and Mike Luberda Jr battled for third. Back in the field, John Doering Jr, John Grega and Tim Felver were patiently making their way to the front and increasing the pressure on the leaders. On lap #45 Tim Felver made the pass on McNett using the bottom of the track to take the lead and John Grega got around the Iceman for third place. John Doering Jr had worked his way to sixth place and Jason Felver who started eleventh was now in the seventh spot. By lap #60 “Stormin” Norman Davis had left the track for a mechanical problem but was able to return and tag onto the rear of the field. He would make a great run from the back to finish 9th and pass 11 more good cars in the process. The race went green for the final 27 laps and Tim Felver had his hands full as he raced through lapped traffic and held off a charging John Grega on the final lap. Felver won his third Main Event Series race at Owosso in his last four tries. The Owosso native is the 2002 points champion in the prestigious Main Event Series and has now won the last 3 Super Late Model races at Owosso. Grega finished 2nd, McNett finished 3rd, Doering finished 4th, Tim Ice finished 5th, Claude Plante Jr finished 6th, Jason Felver was 7th, Dan Krzywosinski was 8th, Norm Davis 9th and MERS point’s leader Gary Whipkey 10th.

Grega Grabs The Patriot; Woolworth wins again
by Larry Loynes
Even a few raindrops couldn't slow down Hall of Famer John Grega as he dominated the Patsy Lou Williamson Patriot 100 on July 1st at Auto City. Several other divisions were in action and all of which entertained the fans in attendance.
Eighteen Super Late Models took time trials with Grega posting the fast lap at 14.85. Todd Rosebrugh jumped into the lead to start the race, but he was challenged from the beginning. John Doering, Jr. made an early run at the leader, but when a caution flag flew early on, he and Johnny Belott made contact with a lapped car and neither were a factor the rest of the way. Claude Plante, Jr. and Jay Reinbold also hounded Rosebrugh, but both had to pull off with mechanical problems. Grega took over the charge and lap 43 John passed Rosebrugh on the bottom. Grega ran away, lapping also the entire field taking the win. Johnny Van Doorn made a strong in only his second Auto City appearance tp take second, followed by Ron Shamel, Jr., Cliff Pulley and Paul Pelletier

DOERING WINS A+ SUPPLY DIXIE CUP, BY A FENDER

After two weeks of rainy weather, sunny skies graced the Dixie Motor Speedway on Friday, May 26th, as the Outlaw Super Late Models opened the 2006 A+ Supply Dixie Cup Series with the running of the Port City Racing 100. Every fan in the stands agreed the last lap was worth the price of admission as veterans John Grega and John Doering, Jr. provided a spectacular, last lap finish.

The track record for the Outlaw Super Late Models was broken not once but twice, as Grega broke his own previous fast time with a blistering 14.473 before Harold Fair, Jr. ran a little quicker with a 14.437. The "Rooster" Gene Quackenbush held off the field to win the "B" main. Twenty-four cars took the green flag with Jack Varney, Jr. jumping in front from his pole position. Doering took over the lead from Varney 10 laps later after getting by Indiana hotshoe Scott Hantz and started to pull away with the field battling behind him. Grega was charging forward from his 9th starting spot, as Hantz and David McManus tried to keep Doering in sight. The caution flag flew on lap 83, tightening up the pack. Hantz took a shot at Doering on the restart and got along side in turn two but Doering would slide up the track, forcing Hantz to lift. On lap 91, McManus came into turn 1 too hard and spun out. On the restart Grega, who had been using the bottom all night, made it work again as he passed Hantz for 2nd with four to go. On the final lap, Grega made one last charge, sticking his nose under the leader going into turn 3. It looked like Grega would make the pass but, as the pair came off turn 4, Doering would not give Grega the edge as they made serious contact and it looked like they would both crash. Doering took the win by just a fender as Grega would go sliding toward the 1/3-mile. The former champions shook hands afterwards, congratulating each other on a hard-fought battle. Hantz took 3rd followed by Joe Bush and Steve Sauve. Rounding out the top 10 were Lee Anderson, Varney, Michael Simko, McManus, and Fair. 18 cars would finish the 100-lap grind with just a few spins slowing the pace. This is just the beginning of an exciting season for the Series sponsored by A+ Supply, Port City Racing, EMF Corporation, and Hoosier Tire.
