  Sat 8/29/09 3pm - 5pm Sapulpa White v JENKS MAROON Jenks Maroon held their season opener against Sapulpa White and worked hard to bring down the Chieftains. Maroon put the first points on the board with a handoff from substitute quarterback Phillip Scott to Darrius Brown who ran the ball in for a touchdown but the team was unable to make the extra point. After the Chieftains turned the ball back to Maroon on downs, Parker Phillips followed up with a touchdown run that brought the score to 12-0. Darrius Brown ran the ball in for the extra point and the score stood at 13-0. The Chieftains followed up with a touchdown run of their own and an extra point. Luck was on their side and they scored a second touchdown with a Maroon turnover at kickoff but were denied an extra point and the first half ended with the score tied at 13-13. Maroon dominated the second half of the game, holding the Sapulpa Chieftains scoreless. Darrius Brown had a 52-yard touchdown run and Chasen Umholtz took the ball to the end zone for the extra point bringing the score to 20-13. Sapulpa appeared to be in line to add points to the board but were thwarted by a fumble recovered near the end zone by Maroon's Chris Walker. The ball continued to pass between teams when the Chieftains took the ball in a tip off the fingertips of a Maroon receiver. Sam Wilson then wrested the ball from the Chieftains and took the ball 42 yards. A fumble by Maroon on the next play gave the ball back to Sapulpa. The ball eventually found it's way back into the hands of the Maroon team and Darrius Brown took it in for a touchdown bringing the score to the game ending 26-13. Sapulpa High School
