JENKS MAROON SEALS PLAYOFF BID WITH WIN OVER SOUTH TULSA RAIDERS

JM v S Tulsa Raiders 2
Touchdown Run

Jenks Maroon sealed their bid into the playoffs with a 35-0 win over the South Tulsa Raiders on Saturday at the JTA field.  The Trojans opened the game with a kickoff to the Raiders who never made it into Trojan territory during their first posession and turned the ball over on downs.  In Maroon's first posession,  quarterback Mark O'Connor passed the ball off to Parker Phillips who ran it into the end zone for a touchdown.  Maroon missed on the extra point attempt.  The Raiders then ran a series of attempts to move the ball but were stopped behind the line of scrimmage by Sam Wilson, followed by James Steiner and Parker Phillips turning the ball back to Maroon on downs.  The Trojans' second posession included a couple of runs by Hayden Ashley to finally score on a 3rd and long.  The second touchdown was followed by a run from James Steiner for the extra point and Jenks Maroon started the second quarter with a 13-0 lead.

The Raiders tried again, scoring a first down, but in their second posession the receiver fumbled the ball which was recovered by Nicky Woodley with a little help from Sam Wilson.  Maroon then used the opportunity for a quarterback pass to Hayden Ashley who ran the ball in for a 40-yard touchdown.  Maroon tried to kick a field goal but the ball was blocked and the score stood at 19-0.  Again, the Raiders had a hard time moving beyond the line of scrimmage in their next posession.  They were stopped in the backfield by Matt Gaskins on the second down.  A false start penalty on the 3rd down brought up 3rd and 8 but the quarterback was tackled by Bobby Davis in the backfield.  After a fourth, unsuccessful attempt, the Raiders turned the ball back over to the Trojans.  James Steiner then took the ball and ran 44 yards for the Trojans' 4th touchdown.  Hayden Ashley kicked a field goal for the extra point and the score stood at 27-0.  The Trojans again took over on downs from the Raiders and Darrius Brown scored another touchdown.  Although the kick was no good, Maroon ended the half with a healthy 33-0 lead.

Maroon started the second half with the ball at the Trojan 48-yard line and ran a series, gaining a 1st down on runs by Hayden Ashley and Parker Phillips.  Mark O'Connor made 12 yards on a quarterback-keeper and after a loss bringing up the 3rd down, a pass to Hayden Ashley made it's way into the end zone for another touchdown.  The team tried another field goal attempt but the kick was no good.

Nathan Yohe kicked off the 4th quarter with a quarterback sack that kept the Raiders from scoring and forced them to turn the ball over on downs.  Runs by Maroon players Darrius Brown and Phillip Scott captured the 1st down and then Phillip Scott scored a touchdown on a 40-yard run with a pass from Mark O'Connor.  The field goal attempt fell just short of the uprights.  Maroon scored a total of 45 points during the game but the official score will be held to 35-0.
