Our Philosophy
At the Jason Dawe Pro Hockey Camps , Roy and I take pride in teaching our students proper positional play, the correct ways to forecheck and backcheck, the right attitude and work ethic, and the overall skills needed to succeed at the highest level possible. We are strong believers that to be a complete player, you are required to do as much preparation off the ice as on, and therefore we teach the kids a great deal about the importance of nutrition and off ice conditioning, exercise and attitude. I am confident that if the student accepts the challenge to work on the areas of the game that our instructors demonstrate, he or she will leave our camp a much improved hockey player and person.
During my 12 year professional hockey career including 6 years and 367 games in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres, NY Islanders, Montreal Canadiens and the NY Rangers, I quickly realized that confidence was one of the most important elements in professional sports. Our instructors put a huge emphasis on building confidence and strengthening mental toughness. It is very important that a child learn to rebound quickly from mistakes not only on the ice , but in the game of life as well.
I had the distinct honor of playing for some of the greatest hockey minds in the game. In Buffalo, I played for John Muckler, Ted Nolan, Lindy Ruff and Alain Vigneault who is currently coaching the Vancouver Canucks, as well as, John Paddock who was most recently the head coach of the Ottawa Senators. During my NHL career I played with some of the games best ever, Pat Lafontaine, Alexander Mogilny, Dale Hawerchuk, Michael Peca, Dominik Hasek, Grant Fuhr, Mark Messier, Brian Leetch, Vincent Damphousse, Saku Koivu and Trevor Linden. These players and coaches taught me how to perform and train at the highest level possible, but most importantly to be a quality person both on and off the ice.
Here is our personal guarantee, "Every player who attends a Jason Dawe Hockey Camp will walk away a better, stronger, more confident, knowledgeable and overall improved player and person."
I look forward to working with your athlete!
Sincerely,
Jason Dawe & Roy Roman
