Buckeye Youth Football Association: Welcome
|
|
We started with one team, the Jaguars, who began play in 1996. The Jets were added in 2000, and the Buccaneers joined us in the 2001 season. The 2008 Season saw the creation of the Pee Wee Division for 7 and 8 year olds, and the downsizing of the JV Division to contain only 9 and 10 year olds. During 2008 we also reduced our Flag Division to 1 team and they are known as the Bucks to identify with our high school team. The Buccanneers were dissolved at the end of 2008 in order to strengthen the rosters in all divisions. There is sadness in losing a team, however we feel that the overall effect will strengthen the other 2 teams and the program in general. In 2010 we returned to our roots as the Jags and Jets both fielded a Varsity, JV, Pee Wee and Flag Squad, along with cheerleaders for each of those divisions making a total of 16 Squads.
Since the 1999 Season Buckeye Varsity teams have made 11 appearances in the Championship Game, 7 by the Jaguars and 4 by the Jets. The Jags claimed championships in 1999, 2000 & 2009, and the Jets in 2003 & 2010. The Buckeye JV teams have made 4 appearances in the Championship game, 1 by the Jaguars and 3 by the Jets. The Jags JV claimed the Championship in 2009.
We have been committed to building a successful program that helps Buckeye Bucks high school program build a winning tradition. The Bucks have made 4 State Playoff appearances in the last 9 years. Over the first 15 years there were over 450 different players, 210 cheerleaders and 80 coaches involved with Buckeye Youth Football. We feel the program has gotten better every year. We grew from 38 kids our first season in 1996, to 198 for the 2011 season. Our peak season saw our program have over 200 kids participating during the 2003 season.
Our web site has a page for each of the 2 teams broken down to squads by division for players and cheerleaders. Feel free to click on any of the menu items to the left and explore the team sites, rosters, pictures, schedules, history, etc. Updates are done to the pages as we get new information. Please click on the picture and sign our Guestbook at the bottom of the page we would like to have your comments! Thanks for dropping by!
